Lyria
Lyria is at the center of Eione's agriculture. The small village is known for it's abundance of kelp farms, although many other crops are cultivated here as well. The city itself is built on a slope. Kelp and other farms sit at the very top, thirty meters below the ocean's surface. Homes and shops made out of various types of stone are built down the side of the slope, littered with winding seashell paths. And at the very bottom lies the religious district; a grand sight full of history.
Current Rulers
The Stavrous is the only known house related to the royal Leventis family. They were granted rule over Lyria not only for their blood relation, but because of the heroics of Duchess Eleanor Stavrou. The downfall of the Archons all started in Lyria. Here Archmage Arabel Leventis, King Finlay Leventis, and their cousin, Eleanor Stavrou liberated Lyria by taking down the ruling Archon. Afterwards Eleanor turned Lyria into a refuge for anyone escaping the tyranny of the Traxian empire. The duchess still lives today. She is one of the only elves who can recount life before the Age of Heroes. She's a trusted elder not only within Lyria, but in all of Eione. Many come to her for advice, even King Calyx. The duchess is preparing for her granddaughter, Thea, to one day take her place once she dies. Thea is honored to take her grandmother's place, and has worked hard to earn Lyria's trust.Notable Locations
Talis Square
Talis Square lies at the bottom of the city. The square is considered a religious district, and therefore well respected and taken care of. It is arguably the most gorgeous district, with tall marble buildings and golden statues lining the roads. A few temples dedicated to the gods can be found here, as well as the Talis Inn. Talis Inn. The Talis Inn is a humble establishment when compared to the rest of the district. The wooden building is small yet cozy, and has been around for centuries. The inn is built where an archon commander used to reside, before the duchess demanded their home to be torn down. The food and drinks here are easily affordable, made from crops grown in the local Zoro Valley.Rutan Hills
The Rutan Hills is a district made up of cloistered stone homes, scattered across the large slope the city was built upon. Many residents and businesses reside here within the bustling city quarter, often decorated with festive posters and garlands.Zoro Valley
At the highest point in Lyria, located on an expansive sea bed, is the Zoro Valley. Here farms of all types can be found spanning for miles. Stavrou Vineyard. Only a mile walk from the Rutan Hills is the Stavrou Vineyard. Here the noble family grow and produce sea grapes, with a quaint little house in the center of it all. Those that seek the Duchess' audience often travel here. All are welcome, from the simple commonfolk to foreign dignitaries.History
Lyria's Founding (730 BKD). Ever since the Age of Trax, Lyria has served as a farming settlement. Those that did not want to be apart of Agnomahkos' army often found work here, although the tyranny was still terrible. Farmers worked hard to meet the Traxian's demands, and the ruling commanders did little to show their gratitude. The divide of wealth was clear. Talis Square (which was not the district's name at the time), occupied by the archons, was grand and lavish. Meanwhile the hills and valleys were nothing more than crumbling and rotten huts. For centuries nothing could be done about this treatment, and mortals continued to suffer. Lyria's Liberation (5 BKD). When the famed heroes, Arabel and Finlay Leventis, first began their quest to take down the Traxian Empire, they had first stopped in Lyria for supplies. Their cousin, Eleanor Stavrou, learned about the siblings' plans, and begged for their help to take down Lyria's own archon commander. They agreed, and together the three slayed the commander. Eleanor stayed behind to lead Lyria, turning it into a refuge for those fleeing the fights. Lyria had become a symbol of hope among other mortals. Stavrou's Ennobling (1 AKD). Months after the Traxian Empire was destroyed, and Eione was established, King Finlay elevated Eleanor's family to the status of nobility. Eleanor became a duchess, and was given official rule over Lyria. Ever since then, the city has prospered under her reign. The Infestation (620 AKD). Recently, the city has had an infestation problem. Not only do the swarm of creatures eat everything in it's path, but many farmers have died defending their land. Duchess Eleanor has had eveyone in the Zoro Valley evacuated until further notice. This has caused a complete stop of their production of crops, and the entire city is in unrest.General Information
