Arethusa
Just like their god, Kruphix, Arethusa is a polis shrouded in mystery. The revival of the once Traxian city has made for much outcry from other nations, and Arethusian’s off-putting and secretive attitudes only make it that much worse. Despite this, they’ve gained enough respect after their war with Eione to be left alone.
Arethusa is undeniably one of the most religious nations in all of Aeziron. Their religious based government carries out the ideologies of a few gods, but mainly Kruphix. This religion is called the "Devout".

Overview
Structure of Society. The Devout hold most of society's wealth, government power, and respect. Members of the Devout are often considered patrons, since they are known to sponsor scholars, scientists, and even students. And while Arethusa prioritizes education, their Aeternal Academy is only a stepping stone into knowledge. Arethusians are encouraged to find education outside of Aeziron, while still keeping their secrets close to heart. Merchants, farmers, and the like are still considered essential, but are not held in as high regard as those seeking knowledge. Military/Intelligence. Many witnessed the full force of Arethusa's military centuries ago during there war with Eione. Their army lacked numbers, but they favored strategy, outsmarting the bulk of Eione's army with strategy and magical forces alike. They also made excellent spies, gaining intelligence and secrets through divination. Economy and Trade. For quite sometime, Arethusa hadn't made much profit outside of their own community. But in recent years, merchants and investors from other nations have seen the potential their remedies and medicinal herbs have.History
Age of Trax (1000-5 BKD). Arethusa is an ancient city-state, with great history behind it. For awhile it was the home to Agnomakhos, leader of Archons and ruler of the Traxian Empire. When the Leventis siblings took him down, Thassa then took down the city with him, submerging it underwater. For a century it remained untouched and forgotten, buried under sand and sediment. The waters surrounding Arethusa became covered in bioluminescent particles, which were assumed to be the remnants of the slayed archons. The Devout's Founding (115 AKD). Assumedly led by Kruphix, a group of his followers found the remnants of Arethusa, and built a settlement there. The Devout was eventually established by Kruphix's oracle, the first Divine. The Devout has ruled Arethusa peacfully ever since. Arethusa's Return (304 AKD).One day, a traveler decided to go find and study the ruins of Arethusa, only to find a community of tritons living there. Word quickly got out, which was soon followed by widespread panic. The Eionian War (305-308 AKD). King Finlay Leventis, one of the siblings who killed Agnomahkos, was incredibly paranoid over the sudden appearance of the new Arethusians. He sent unarmed emissaries to confront the community, but the Arethusians were incredibly protective. The emissaries met a quick end. Finlay came back with a larger group, attempting to instead drive the community off past Erebos' Reach. This group also met an untimely end. Finlay now considered Arethusa an actual threat, and declared war on the polis. Arethusa surprisingly held off, and even gained the alliance of the soon-to-be Runic Isles. Three years later after the sudden disappearance of King Finlay's sister, Archmage Arabel, he called the war off. Arethusa was now respected as an independent nation. Divine Myrine's Death (618 AKD). Divine Myrine's sudden and unexplainable death left Arethusians to mourn. There are much suspiscions and rumors as to what happened to her, but so far nothing has been confirmed. This has caused for much tension within the polis, especially between the Devout and the common folk. Myrine's brother, Right Hand Nicomedes, now rules Arethusa as regent. Myrine's daughter is only a child, thus unfit to rule the nation.General Information
