Peace Among Neighbors

It's hard to imagine those two used to despise one another, huh. Nowadays they're like siblings! Still somewhat annoyed at each other but they've always got each others backs, that's for sure!
— An Ywara talking about Quanlin and Sinea

History of the two countries

The two countries have never seen eye to eye, and have almost always been in conflict with each other. From the very beginning when it was only the settlers of Sinea that lived alone on the island that they named Sirenti, life was good for the Sini and the only worries they ever really had were the spirits also inhabiting Sirenti.   Life became suddenly a lot more complicated when a group of foreign settlers came to the island and claimed the northern parts. This group called their new territory Quanlin and themselves for Quanes. Of course, the Sini wasn't happy about their sudden roommate and tried to solve the problem like the calm and respectful folk they were, but it ended up in a war they couldn't win.   For the next 50 years, the borders changed every other year, eating more and more of the Sini territory until it came to a standstill around the centre of the island. This is when the new leadership of the Sini decided to put an end to this constant disagreement and war. He wanted to live his life in peace and raise his children without the fear of another war suddenly occurring.

The proposal

Over the years the Quanes had claimed a lot of the Sini territory, and they knew they wouldn't be able to claim it back: not in war and not peacefully either, as the Quanes were known to be of the stubborn kind. But one thing did bother the people of Sinea - the large island just off the coast of their shores, also now belonging to the Quanes. They wanted to reclaim it but in a peaceful manner as the island meant more to them than just land. This was, in fact, the first place the settlers sat foot when they first arrived.   The agreement was to be: The borders stay as they are, and there is no more discussion or war over where it should be - on the mainland. Though they wanted the Isle of Tuk back as it is part of Sinea history.   All the smaller islands located up north would still belong to the Quanes, and Sinea was even willing to throw in a couple of their islands as well if it meant they'd get the Isle of Tuk back.

Finally some peace

For the meeting, everyone met up at the borders, where terms and agreements were thoroughly discussed. But they didn't meet only one time, as the first went into yet another fight - an incident that probably won't be forgotten until the end of times; The pierced foot incident.   The second meeting happened only 4 days later after the fighting had settled down, and the cause of the sudden outburst of havoc had been found - those pesky spirits! Always looking for how to make the most trouble.   Ah well, that is a story for another time, the important part is, that the agreement was finally signed by both parts with only a few corrections and additions. And this was the start of a long-lasting friendship between the two rather different cultures.   These two countries would later be the ones to lead a united Aewyn and be the ones to start a new era of peace.
