Session 15: Try, Try Again

General Summary

Previous Session: Session 14: Kish'lagg   Enjoying their meal now that the threat of Kish'lagg and its beastman cultists are defeated, the Lads discuss plans for travelling to Mariam in the morning. With newfound strength, they will travel to Mariam and once again seek out the weapon-distributing bandits, suspecting them to be working with the Silk Guild. The following day, they have breakfast before heading to the stables while Glen and Louis sleep. They take out Honey and Birch with two of their carts and give Horace a 5 GP deposit for Honeybirch and their remaining cart until they return. They have an uneventful journey on their first day of travel to Krong and camp in the woods that night. The next day, they continue travelling. During this day, Willow asks Erlenwald about his and Jaraleto's order. Erlenwald explains how their order protects the realm of Aeterna from extraplanar threats. The order is dedicated to the Immortal Swordsman - a paladin from long ago believed to be the first to pledge this oath. Some believe the swordsman is still alive, considering the legends say he is, in fact, immortal. However, No one can confirm his continued existence as no one has seen him in hundreds of years. Also, during this day of travel, Jaraleto asks Muda about the origins of his tattoos. He explains how he was once a famed gladiatorial fighter. Once he reached the big leagues, the Bloody Knuckles Guild tattooed the symbols onto his body when he joined them, saying they would make him a better fighter.   The Lads reach Krong as the Sonn begins to set over the horizon. The paladins each purchase ten rations from Gerald, the ration dealer at his stall in town. The Lads then made their way through Krong and camped outside, off the road to Mariam. They continued travelling for another uneventful day and camped in the forest. That night, before they slept, Muda asked Hettle to wake him up in the middle of the night so that he could make Willow stronger. Hettle agrees, and when he wakes Muda up, Muda walks over to Willow and lightly sits on his sleeping body. He taps three times on the ground before slapping Willow awake, saying he got pinned and needs to get stronger. Willow is angry at Muda for this, and Muda goes back to sleep without further explanation. Hettle tells Willow that he should prove himself to Muda by showcasing his dexterity instead of physical strength. Willow refuses to sleep that night, causing him to feel exhausted when the morning Sonn rises. They gather their supplies and continue to Mariam. Reaching Mariam, they are stopped at the gate as the guards ask what their business is in Mariam. They show their Silk Guild memberships, and the guards allow them to enter. Once inside, they make a plan to scout the Silk Guild in the morning, and that night, they make camp on a small grass patch in the center of the village, surrounded by homeless villagers.   The next day, the paladins buy horse feed from a local market stall - 20 bags of feed for 1 GP. Meanwhile, the Lads go to the Silk Guild and ask the supervisor questions. In their questioning, the supervisor tells them about expensive shops where they can buy supplies on the east side of Mariam, past the processing district. They leave the guild and head to this fancy shopping district, finding a potion shop called Russ's Apothecary. While there, and while the shop owner, Russ, is distracted, Willow secretly steals a green, glimmering mystery potion. The other Lads argue the logistics of Russ's prices, and Willow purchases a potion of healing. As they leave the shop, Muda rips the front door off its hinges. Russ screams out for the guards, and Willow and Jaraleto escape before any appear. Three guards then converge on the shop with spears drawn. Muda pretends to be senile, while Hettle argues that he is innocent. Erlenwald also steps in to defend them but is called out by Russ as having been with them at the crime, saying he is equally guilty. Willow leaves some of his equipment in a nearby alleyway as he hatches a plan. He takes Birch with an empty cart and charges the guards yelling, 'Look out!" The cart detaches, and Willow leaves with Birch down another alleyway as the cart continues forward and knocks down two of the guards. Muda flees, acting scared and senile, while Hettle and Erlenwald heal the injured guards. The three of them are arrested and taken to the guardhouse, pending court. Willow collects his things and finds Jaraleto, telling him what happened.   Next Session: Session 16: Hettle, Ace Attorney
