Serena Di'Aurix

Princess Serena Di'Aurix

Relationship With Raedwolf: Serena met Raedwolf when they were very young in the stables of the Di'Aurix mansion. Raedwolf's father, Fenrir, the stable master, often would have Raedwolf there to assist him. Serena initially visited to play with the animals, and upon discovering Raedwolf, became fast friends (expressing delight in his puppy-like features). Raedwolf and Serena would play frequently, as well as get into trouble, Raedwolf, helping her escape to the North gate and playing in forbidden territories. Serena had given Raedwolf the nickname 'Ruffles' when one day they were both soaked in a storm together, and had to be dried immediately due to important guests. Upon being dried, Raedwolf was left extremely poofy and fluffy, in a ruffly like manner that had given him the nickname to this day. Serena's more mischievous side is brought out when she is around Raedwolf and considers him her best friend. Raedwolf had once ordered a ring from Edger to give to Serena, thereby making Hala (the foxgirl) jealous. Raedwolf has constantly displayed ferocious loyalty to Serena, even to the point of refusing to leave her side when planning on the island of Seer. He had stood up for her when Antony scolded Serena on the ship, thereby getting him arrested for calling Antony a "Prick." Raedwolf had cleverly lured cultists onto a trap and saved Edger and Serena's lives.   Relationship With Edger: Serena was introduced to Edger by Raedwolf, when trying to rescue two stolen sheep. Raedwolf and Edger knew one another and Serena took and an immediate liking to Edger, nicknaming him 'Teddy' due to his bear like appareance. Serena is aware of his shyness, and insecurities, and has often gone out of her way to make sure he feels included, as well as hope for his future.   Serena was given a sculpted turtle as a gift from Edger once, and had ordered a bag of embossed Arrow heads with Dragon insignia on them. She had been rescued by Edger once from falling into a trap of a cult with a watery pit at the bottom, due to her poor swimming skills, he was able to carry her out of the water.   She had once given him a necklace as a gift for the Summer Festival. The key on it resembled a secret promise she would one day find a way to free him from slavery. Edger returned this necklace to her when he broke his own collar on the ship, as a token that she no longer needed to keep her promise because he found his own way. This, however was revoked and Edger repaired his collar because of the dire consequences that laid before them. Although Serena still has the necklace, she still intends to keep her promise.   Relationship With Sophia: Serena and Sophia have had a notably rocky relationship, but are overall good friends. Serena and Sophia became friends when Sophia noticed Serena's pet sheep, "Snowy." Serena became slightly agitated with Sophia after she had pressured Ruffles to get a haircut and chased him, and a few other things. Her built up frustration eventually led to her slapping Sophia while leaving the island of Seer (due to being told not to feel guilty for her failure because she had still saved a life that night). Serena apologized later and the two have made up, although both still feel wary of the incident. Serena expressed that Sophia was right, and that she was wrong to have slapped her, that she valued Sophia's wisdom and shouldn't have expressed her frustration in such a childish manner. She views Sophia with a much higher respect due to her wise input during their planning on the island. Serena deeply values Sophia's wisdom and knowledge of their culture, and her ability to stealthily achieve tasks, her flying capabilities and her way with a dagger.   Relationship With Cato: Upon hearing that Cato would be taken in as a new disciple of Quintis, Serena took this to mean they are now 'family' (although Quintis had never quite stated it that way). Serena has since tried to go out of her way to make Cato feel included in their adventures, and social scenes, however she has noticed his resistance, judgement of her, and backhanded comments regarding her lack of knowledge of the reality of situations (such as promising to free Edger). Although hurt by this at first, Serena is slowly understanding the complexities of the politics outside her childhood view of matters. She deeply wishes she could be closer to him, but struggles to overlook his distaste for her position of nobility. Serena once tried to stand up for Cato when accused by Sophia for potentially conjuring a water elemental with a zombie mermaid in it's core. Serena argued it was a coincidence and that he had a right to sing as anyone else did. Serena also tried talking to Cato after their departure on the island, but felt her words were futile in building a connection with him. Serena has stayed silent in terms of the rocky relationship between Cato and Corinna, as she feels it does not involve her, and that she does not know what their situation is exactly and respects the matter is exclusive between them, however is now slowly understanding the situation between them more.   Relationship With Leon: Serena regards Leon kindly, and feels guilty he positions himself as an invisible figure among their group because he is a slave. She has tried to involve him in games and seems to have a friendly disposition towards him.   Relationship With Corinna: Serena feels a kinship with Corinna due to both of their unusual wings. She finds it unfair that hers are regarded so highly while Corinna's are regarded as cursed. She wishes to help Corinna, and give her confidence to hold on to hope and faith things will turn around. She also is slowly understanding Corinna's frustration with Cato, and her trauma behind the death of her older Brother Romeo.   Other:     Relationship With Gold: Serena appears to have an obsession with gold, having it surround her bed like an island and decorated in every inch of her room possible. She loves all kinds of treasures (even gifts from her friends) and has a desire to be in physical contact with her possessions when in great distress. Her mother discovered early on that Serena would throw a temper tantrum if not given shiny gold like objects, eventually surrendering to Serena's obsession and monstrous cries; whereupon, once given treasure, would revert to her kind like self.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Born to Elonwy Di'Aurix, (a Solari woman known for tremendous skill in harp and singing), she was raised to sing and play like her mother. Elonwy passed down her harp to Serena to honor their family history. The Harp is currently blessed by the Justicar, Seer, to be able to play on its own, and record music magically.   Serena's father, a white dragon (who's name she recently discovered is) White Sear, 'left' when she was very young. Any explanation as to why how, or when, are not spoken of, as well as who he was, and how her parents met. The only known history she knows of her parents meeting involves the harp she plays, and a song her parents sang together while they knew one another.   Serena's Uncle, (Elonwy's older brother) Quintis is the current Regenator of Illiakos, he is also her God Father and adopted her as his own.

Gender Identity

Female.

Education

Serena is educated in Patrician Hill with her friends Raedwolf (Ruffles) and Sophia. She is privately taught music, and singing, by her mother. She learns archery from Arm Master Julius and has learned some forms of magic on her own.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Serena has proven to be a prodigy of music and a skilled archer in flight. She has a strange habit of becoming fierce and wise beyond her years when she is angered, she has expressed she does not have control over these phases. She was able to help create peace when discovering the thieves of the two sheep, and parted on peaceful ways, but struggles to plan more coherently when lives are at stake.

Failures & Embarrassments

She is known to make poor decisions when under pressure, or when her friends are in danger. Such as bursting into a private meeting with Quintis, and the guests from Argentum, (Talus and Reginald). Although she was able to wisely plan a way to get into a cave of captured mermaids, she planned the timing aspect poorly at the cost of two lives.

Mental Trauma

Currently traumatized by her poor plan on the island to save all the mermaids, and her failure to prevent her friends from being arrested by her brother Antony while on the ship. She is depressed and feels a loss of self confidence due to it. She also blames herself for the entire episode.

Intellectual Characteristics

Serena is notably kind, thoughtful, and loyal to her friends. She can be naive, and vain, but is very open to critique and learning from her mistakes. She doesn't like getting into fights and tries to avoid it as much as possible.

Morality & Philosophy

Serena, although a princess and daughter of the Reginald, feels a strong connection to the lower class and wishes to use her power and position to help those below her. This is a struggle she constantly endures as she is often judged by other higher class figures. She also struggles with her own obsession with gold and treasures and being able to find a balance between the two desires.   She believes most situations can be resolved peacefully if given enough thought and time.

Taboos

Rumor has it Serena has not returned books from the Illiakos library concerning Dragon mating as she finds it extremely embarrassing. She fears people will take out the books in curiosity about her parents and how she was born. However, She is also known to constantly take out books in the library concerning dragons because she is deeply fascinated by her draconic ancestry.   Serena does not like to be regarded as 'lesser' because she is half dragon. Even the smallest implication is extremely offensive to her; as she finds her half dragon ancestry extremely honorable and higher than the typical Solari, and judges those harshly who assume poor judgement of her.   Serena is extremely possessive of her gold and treasures. She has expressed to Edger once that she views her friends as part of these treasures, which is partially why she feels extremely agitated when they are torn apart or have been mistreated or harmed in some way.
