Solari

The Solari (trans. People of Sol), are a race of winged humans. Most, but not all Solari are Theocrats. Due to their ability to fly, as well as innate aptitude at magic, in addition to their devotion to Sol, the Solari often see themselves as superior to other races and ethnicities.

Anatomy

The Solari race have a similar morphology to humans, except for a pair of feathering wings on their back. They have a slightly smaller build on average, are genetically predisposed to slighter builds, and have a lighter frame for their size. Genetically, they are also similar to humans, with similar reproductive and growth cycles. The Solari notably have a lesser chance of birth defects and age more gracefully, with a life expectancy slightly longer than humans. They possess an magical resistance to cold weather, and are better adapted to high altitude conditions (Though few settlements exist above 2.5 km). They also have an innate ability to manipulate basic aether strands.

Genetics and Reproduction

The Solari have similar reproductive processes to humans for most part. Gestation periods for Solari mothers, are an average of 8 months, and tend to make flight difficult if not impossible in the later stages of pregnancy. The Solari are able to breed with any species a human can. Unlike humans, who produce half-human offspring, A Solari mother will almost always bear a Solari child, while a Solari father has a chance of bearing a child of either race, or a mixed race child. It is not clear what biological rules govern this, as these kinds of unions, especially with non humans or Solari, are rare, and hence poorly studied.

The Solari mostly live in the Sol Theocracy. The second largest population exists on the north western coast of Jenub.

Beauty Ideals

The Solari as a race value high standards of personal hygiene. They are proud of their hair, especially the more fiery color it has, and wear it long, with elaborate hairstyles for special occasions. Jewelry is favored, but kept simple, and mostly hair decorations.

Courtship Ideals

The Solari as a culture and race have collectivist tendencies, and as such prefer prolonged traditional courting before consummation of love. Although ideally, a Solari would mate with other Solari, they are able to engage in romantic relationships and produce offspring with other humanoid races, especially humans.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Theo is the main language that the Solari speak. It most closely resembles latin in enunciation and script.

History

The Solari are a sentient race created by Sol. After the Great Betrayal, Sol took his people and settled in the westernmost peninsula of Aegea, establishing the Sol Theocracy. Since then, the Solari have formed the core race of the Theocracy.
