OFD05 A Long Night at the Blue Piper
Sir Rubin’s Transformation
You step into Sir Rubin’s chamber, and the sharp scent of sweat and fever fills the air. The potion is taking hold fast. Though his eyes remain shut, his body is locked in a battle against itself—muscles bulging, veins pulsing beneath his skin. Beads of sweat roll down his temples, and his fingers are clenched so tightly around the sheets that his knuckles have turned ghostly white. His body writhes in agony, twisting violently against the bed. There’s no time to hesitate. You rush forward, grabbing whatever bed linen you can find, twisting it into makeshift restraints. It holds—for now. But already, the sheer force of his convulsions strains the fabric, threatening to tear it apart. He’s too strong. You need help. "Get Asus and Suzi!" one of you shouts, rushing to the window. "And bring rope—ask the innkeeper!" With Sir Rubin momentarily secured, you brace yourself, knowing the bindings won’t last long. Help needs to come fast—or there’ll be no holding him back.Hold Sir Rubin down------

The Truth Unfolds
A sickening realisation dawns as you watch Sir Rubin’s transformation intensify. His body is shifting, growing more monstrous by the second. This is no fever, this is something far worse. He is the beast! The same violent creature that has prowled the night streets for weeks, leaving a trail of innocent victims in its wake. If you don’t act now, he will claim another. Asus, Suzi, Pip the innkeeper, and Graeme Merels, Sir Rubin’s clerk, burst into the room. "What is happening?" Pip exclaims, eyes wide with alarm. "The potion—it's not what it seems!" one of you shouts. "It's poisoning him, transforming him into a killing machine. Sir Rubin is the one who has been ravaging the streets at night! Help us restrain him before it’s too late!" The new arrivals don’t hesitate. Suzi and Asus move swiftly, securing ropes to the bedposts and lashing Sir Rubin’s limbs down tight. The others press their weight against him, straining to keep him pinned as his body thrashes with unnatural strength. Then, his eyes snap open. A deep, guttural growl rumbles from his throat as he glares at those who have bound him. His lips curl back, revealing teeth that look sharper than before. With a sudden jerk, he thrashes against the restraints, muscles straining, desperate to break free. He lunges forward, jaws snapping. Asus reacts instantly, grabbing a strip of bed linen and forcing it over Sir Rubin’s mouth, tying it tightly behind his head. The growls turn into muffled snarls, but the rage in his eyes burns hotter than ever. He fights. He writhes. He does everything in his power to break loose. But the ropes hold. For now.Gag Sir RubinThe night drags on, each passing hour stretching unbearably. Sir Rubin never ceases his struggle. At times, he wrenches at his restraints with raw, violent force; other times, he tugs with eerie patience, testing the knots with unnerving cunning. His eyes, red-rimmed and glistening, shift from fury to desperation, pleading silently for mercy—an act as deceptive as it is pitiful. Despite exhaustion gnawing at you all, the group takes turns resting in shifts. At least three of you remain on watch at all times, wary of any moment when the bindings might give way. Graeme Merels stands in the corner, pale and rigid, his hands trembling as he stares at his master in disbelief. Shock has rendered him useless—he simply doesn’t know what to do. Privately, you exchange quiet mutters about the reward Sir Rubin had promised. Given the circumstances, the chances of seeing a single coin seem slim at best. After a hushed discussion with Suilven, Matrox—drawing on their shared experience as former city guards—speaks with firm resolve. "At first light, we report this to the militia. Captain Kulig needs to know the truth." There’s no telling what the morning will bring, but one thing is certain—you can’t keep this contained for long.
