OFD03 Ask About Pharastus
The passage about Pharastus yoiur heard in the booksellers has you slightly baffled. You remember vague mention of the god by Lysandra in her note to Lady Mortesse that this god was mentioned, but only as a threat to where she might end up.
You decide that the best person to ask about Pharastus would be Sir Rubin Hewd, so everyone agrees Ben should go and chat to him.
Decide to speak to Sir Rubin about PharastusPip, the inn-keeper calls out, "You there! I'm afraid only guests are permitted upstairs. I am able to help you?" You explain that you wish to speak to Sir Rubin, and the Mr Merels will account for you. Pip looks over to a gentle man sitting at a table enjoying a hearty dinner. The man nods in agreement, and Pip waves you up. Sir Rubin, despite the coughing and spluttering, calls you in when you knock. His fever is still heavy, and he continues to cough and splutter, as well as let off horrendously loud farts, throughout your conversation.

Ask about PharastusBen's confers with Sir Rubin, confessing that his knowledge of the Human gods is limited, but he had heard about the God Pharastus from a reading given to the party in the booksellers. And so Sir Rubin tries to fill in some of the blanks.

As god of death and all things evil associated with death, Pharastus is not worshipped publicly at all. Indeed, were it not for his æons old hatred of Tarmenel, his name might never have arisen above the low murmurings of his evil acolytes. As it is, following his persecution of Tarmenel's priests, Pharastus is not only well known as the god of killing, murder, mutilation and mayhem, but his name has become synonymous with all of these things. None will ever admit to worshipping this god and no cleric will ever confess to following him. However, secret, evil shrines exist throughout Pelinore and it is safe to assume that any town of any size will have some vile reminder of this deity."But why do you ask about Pharastus? Surely no one would attempt to worship such an evil deity in a city such as this? Do you think there is some connection to the murders and mutilations? I am shocked and horrified!", and he breaks off to have another coughing fit. You decide that you've probably excited him enough for one day, so make you excuse and leave the room.
Coming out of Sir Rubin's Chamber
As you leave Sir Rubin's room, you hearing faint murmurings coming from the room adjacent to Sir Rubin's. You believe from what you heard previously that this is the room with the five mysterious guests. You pause for a moment near the door and cast a Detect Evil spell, trying to gauge whether or not the guests are evil.Are the mysterious guests evilIt's a strange feeling you get when you direct the spell towards the room, beyond the wall. You only get a faint feeling of some evil intent but not of evil itself. Knowing that the party are downstairs and waiting, Ben decides to join them.
