Personal history

Prince Dyne was born on the continent of Central Dalzenia in the The Redgar Highlands to the ruling family of the Redgar Clan. His father, King Beryn Elodyr Ostolyn Redgar II, and mother, Arryn Nalaea Betallia Redgar, were highly respected and loved monarchs of the Redgar Clan. Their territory was expansive and covered most of the highlands and and many other regions of Central Dalzenia. Dyne was the youngest of 4, with his older sister Fayeth, and his two older brothers Omryr and Agys. Being the youngest, Dyne was often left behind by his siblings and left out of play time. This led to his grandfather, Elodyr Athalan Ostolyn Redgar VI, to take more of a directed interest in him. When Dyne was rejected by his siblings, he would find comfort and company with his grandfather Elodyr, and although he was dearly loved by both his parents, Dyne often found that they didn't have much time for him personally and so he was raised mostly by Elodyr as well.   Elodyr sent away most of Dyne's tutors to become his main educator and would daily take him to the surrounding forests and throughout the highlands to teach him the lessons and skills he would need to live a good life. Over the course of several years, Dyne learnt how to hunt, track, cook, and survive in the wild. Elodyr also taught him proper etiquette and manners for a prince and how to speak multiple languages. Elodyr had no doubt in his mind that Dyne would one day be king and so he taught him accordingly. By the age of 9, Dyne began lessons in dual wielding, a form of combat using two swords that all men of royalty are trained in, using wooden swords. Dyne struggled at first but soon found that he was quite good at using two swords. Elodyr would spar with him in the forests, away from his brothers, as they were prone to be jealous of their close relationship. However, about a year later on a clear night, the royal castle was attacked by a militia sent by a neighboring clan, House Dendra. The castle guards were easily taken out and the castle was stormed. While they were sleeping, one by one, the Redgar family was murdered. Fortunately, before things got too dangerous, Elodyr woke and realized what was happening. Without hesitation he woke Dyne and took him from the castle through a secret door and out past the castle walls. They were able to successfully escape into the woodlands away from the carnage. That night, Dyne and Elodyr survived, becoming the only living members of the Redgar family. A price was placed on their heads and they were hunted day and night. Thankfully, they were able to eventually flee from Dalzenia and boarded a passenger ship bound for Zarafell. Elodyr desperately wanted Dyne to be safe and able to live a full life and so they continued to run north. At age 11, they finally decided to settle in the The Northern Forest in the Kingdom of Frewen, about 18 miles north of Frewen City. Elodyr had found the abandoned remains of what was once an iron mine and decided to build their own cottage above its entrance. He felt it would be safe to have an emergency exit through the mines if ever needed. He laso told Dyne that they had to live there in secret and not become Frewen citizens for fear of their names appearing on a census which could lead to their discovery by their enemies.   For 12 years, Dyne and Elodyr lived as hunters and woodsmen. In that time, Dyne learned how to become an adequate swordsman, an excellent cook, a great hunter and tracker, and was also taught basic carpentry. One day, while Dyne was hunting in the woods, a little too close to the city, he was caught hunting and was immediately charged with poaching in the king's forest. But instead of complying with the Guard, he fought back, killing one man and injuring another. Once detained he was then charged with high treason to the crown, murder, poaching, and illegal squatting. This landed him in prison to be executed. In prison is where he meets Arc and company.

Education

Dyne was educated by his grandfather, Elodyr Redgar VI. He was taught dual-wielding sword combat, along with cooking, literature, mathematics, history, hunting, tracking, battle strategics, language, and public speaking (although failing in the last category). Later, after his exile, Eldoyr taught him carpentry as well.

Mental Trauma

When Dyne was a young boy, his family was murdered by House Dendra, a neighboring clan. He and his grandfather barely escaped death themselves and fled the country to find shelter in Frewen. This event has impacted Dyne greatly in his psyche.
