Dyne's Forest Cottage

The party takes shelter here while on the run from the Frewen Guard. Here they meet Dyne’s grandfather (who still needs a name), who kindly helps the party and even gives Dyne his swords. After Arc and Dyne spot Rael and the Guard in the woods they gather the party and they decide to make a run for it through the mines. Dyne’s grandfather stays behind. In Act 3, when the party returns to Frewen, Dyne will be able to visit his grandfather and during that time, the man who killed his family will come and find them in the woods. Dyne will have the option to fight him and avenge his family, or to let him go and grow into a mature young man.

Purpose / Function

This is the home of Dyne Redgar and his grandfather. After escaping from their homeland in Dalzenia, they were hunted by the same family that murdered theirs. They eventually fled the country and crossed the ocean, eventually making their way to Frewen. They worked very hard to build this lodge in the woods as their permanent home, hidden away from society. They did this because Dyne's grandfather felt that if they became official citizens of Frewen, their names would appear on some sort of legal documentation and therefore could potentially be found be their hunters. This way, they could live safely from being found, while having everything that they need.

Alterations

The house was built over top of an opening to an abandoned iron mine shaft. The tunnels are long and complicated, making it the perfect escape route if ever needed. There is a secret door built underneath the bed in the grandfather's room under lock and key. Only Dyne and his grandfather know of its existence.

Architecture

Dyne’s forest cottage is a house made of wood and animal skins. It is built in the same fashion as a typical hunter's lodge, with steps, at least 2 floors and a deck. I mean, Dyne and his grandfather are royalty after all, they can’t be living in a horrible shack! Dyne’s grandfather strategically built the house attached to an abandoned iron mine shaft. This way, if they need to hide or escape for any reason, they could do so through the mines. Inside the house, it’s made of wood and has more animal skins for carpet, and decoration. They have regular furnishings and cutlery, like mugs and such. They have a few lamps placed throughout the house, as well as books. Dyne and his grandfather are both very well educated and learned.
