Personal history

Baram was born into the royal family in Frewen City. His royal lineage dates back to the original Frewen family that conquered the Norran lands centuries past. His parents were King Baruth Frewen III and Queen Ophelia. At the time of his birth, Baram was 3rd in line to the throne as he had two older brothers, Birik and Oman. Tragically, Birik passed away from a fatal sickness when he only 12 years old, and Oman was killed during a military expedition to the northern reaches of the kingdom.   Before Birik's untimely death, he and Baram were nearly inseparable. Birik took a strong liking to him and they formed a deep bond. Birik took him fishing and they often could be found playing games like hide and seek around the castle and courtyards. When it came to schooling, Baram would often try to shirk his teachings in order to spend more time playing with Birik. When he passed, Baram went into a deep sadness. It's been said that it wasn't until his late teens that he was seen smiling again. His other older brother Oman never tried to comfort him as he was always jealous of Birik and Baram's close reltaionship. Instead of becoming closer with Baram, he despsied him; always keeping in competition with him. Baram never felt like he was loved by Oman and continuously tried to become better than he was in order to gain his respect. This was never good enough though as Oman only saw his competition as pathetic. In every way, Oman was better than Baram. In school, Oman had the better grades, he performed better in combat training, he understood politics better, he was more athletic. Baram always felt undervalued and under appreciated by his brother.   When Oman was in his late twenties, he had heard of an uprising in the north. As a way to gain the respect of King Baruth, his father, he rallied together a small group of warriors to quell the rebellion. Baram was furious with Oman out of jealousy and in his bitterness, he bribed one of the warriors to kill Oman if battle were to get heated. 2 months later, word came from the north that Prince Oman had been slain in battle. The King and Queen were devastated. Baram tried to comfort them in hopes of finally gaining their approval and love. However, King Baruth turned Baram away time and time again, not wanting his company. This caused Baram to grow bitter towards his own parents. In the year that Baram turned 32, the King died suddenly from a heart attack. That day, Baram was crowned as the new King of Frewen. He later married Lucia, a girl from a wealthy family in the city and she became his Queen. A year later, Baram's mother passed away. Some say it was sickness, others say it was from a broken heart.   Over the next decade, Baram's heart was softened by the love he found in his wife Lucia. She was a kind-hearted and empathetic woman who understood Baram and his upbringing. It was because of her that Baram instituted the True Citizens School for the orphans and needy. When he reached the age of 38, he and Lucia had a baby girl, Cara. He loved Cara whole-heartedly and cared deeply for her. Oddly, after Cara was born, all his attention turned to her and away from Lucia. Almost overnight, their relationship changed and Baram began to neglect her. After a couple months, a man showed up at the castle saying that he was a prophet sent by God himself. He declared that Cara had been divinely chosen to become the heir of the Arvalis. As Arvalean tradition requires, Cara would then be taken to the Great Metropolis of Silverspire in order to be raised and mentored to become the world's next Keeper. Upon hearing this news, Queen Lucia's spirits were lifted. She felt so honored that her own daughter would become the next world leader and protector, and she also felt excited knowing that her relationship with King Baram might grow and return to their loving state. However, Baram thought that he might lose his daughter forever. Instead of accepting Cara's destiny, he took the prophet and imprisoned him. He wanted Cara to be his and to stay with him. This caused a deep rift between Lucia and Baram and was the cause of many fights. Completely fed up, Lucia took Cara in the middle of the night in order to take her to Silverspire herself. However, it didn't take very long for King Baram to put together what happened and he sent assassins after her in order to bring Cara back home. Unknowingly, the assassins he hired were part of an undergound organization called The Order of Falvor, a cult-like group purposed to end the rule of the Keepers and destroy the Arvalis. The Order members were successful in tracking down Lucia, who had boarded a merchant ship headed for Silverspire. They murdered Queen Lucia, the crew, and set the ship ablaze before returning to King Baram with baby Cara. Through this event, Baram strengthened his relationship with the Order of Falvor and their leader, Rael Galatea. Together, they formed a long-term plan to kill the current Keeper, which included keeping Cara completely oblivious to her destiny as heir to the Arvalis. Baram's heart had hardened and a lust for power grew inside him. This lust is what eventually drives him to unite with the Empire of Artesia, and help enact the Second Great War.
