Mórtendomë

Mórtendomë, commonly known as the Black King was (and in some ways, is) the last king of the eladrin. Rising to power near the end of the Second Age, Mórtendomë converted the entire eladrin to a cult of necromancy and started a war for supremacy across the (relatively) young world of Aeramis.   A powerful mage, Mórtendomë had unrivaled command of sorcery and wizardry at his disposal. He was capable of raising entire companies of undead with the sweep of a hand, and more than once showed his command of the arcane personally.   A brilliant tactician, and charismatic to any who met him, Mórtendomë easily stepped into a position of power amongst the eladrin, successfully turning them away from conventional gods such as Sehanine, Corellon, and The Raven Queen.   At the closing of the Black War, as the eladrin began losing ground with the intervention of Arkhosia (Ancient), Mórtendomë attempted a ritual which spanned the entire area of the eladrin's remaining territory. In a flash that leveled trees and broke the very ground they stood on, every eladrin in attendance was vaporized, and the Black King was no where to be found. The sylvani assumed that the attempted ritual, whatever its purpose, had failed. In truth, Mórtendomë had utilized the souls of his people as fuel to attain lichdom, using his Nacre Amulet as a phylactery, and remained underground for 9000 years.   In the Fifth Age, after the closing of the Astral War, Mórtendomë has awakened. He once again has begun to gather together armies of undead.
