The Black War
The Black War, sometimes known as the War of Black Skeletons or the War of Undeath, was a conflict that took place at the end of the Second Age. Mórtendomë, who would go by his moniker the Black King, rose to power amongst the eladrin under mysterious circumstances. He drew many followers to his side, such that an estimated 99% of the eladrin population lived under his rule.
With his taking of the throne, Mórtendomë introduced necromancy into eladrin society, and began building an army of undead, later known as The Black Legion. This was done by raising the fallen of past conflicts, such as the Fey Wars, and raids on living settlements to collect more bodies, (mostly Wood Elf (Sylvani). A group of representatives from the sylvani council approached the Black King in an attempt to find peaceful resolution to these obviously aggressive actions. They were slaughtered on the steps of Mórtendomë's castle by the Black King himself, raised, and sent back to the sylvani at the head of a small army of undead as the first official battle of the Black War.
