The Nacre Amulet

The *nacre amulet* is a beautiful, if not eerie, necklace of fine craftsmanship. The amulet is many thousands of years old, having been crafted in the Second Age by a skilled eladrin jeweler.
It is composed mostly of silver, shaped like a rounded rectangle with a hinge on one side and a clasp on the other, and covered in faint arcane runes. The center of the amulet is composed of kaleidoscopic nacre, or mother-of-pearl. A silver chain, the only tarnished part of the item, allows the amulet to be fit over the head and worn around the neck. The amulet itself glows with a constant green light of undeath.
This is the phylactery of Mórtendomë, the Black King, converted to this purpose some 9,000 years ago at the closing of the Second Age. Curiously, Mórtendomë does not seem bothered by its disappearance, and has made no attempt to retrieve the item which contains his soul.
