The IRS Session 12: Big Balls Report

General Summary

The session began high above the miasma of the Amidrakh city of Öchigdör-Margaash in its Travail District as our regal-looking IRS entered Solikh Manor, posing as a group of vampires under Lord Riz 'O (though this would quickly contradict their previous cover-story)   Lord Riz 'O quickly made friends with various Lords and Ladies of Solikh Manor, meeting the flirtatious elven Vampire Lady Phylloxera and forming a story about how he gained the throne of his vampire lord shortly before their trip to Öchigdör-Margaash.  Apparently the lady could smell a sort of "bittersweet milkgrass" scent on the man, which he explained as being from a goat which he ate before getting to the manor (though this may have been some side-effect from his patron)   Lord Riz 'O's compatriots would then feign their identities as vampires as Lord Riz 'O sipped from the foyer's fountain of virgin blood while talking with a gruff-sounding lord named Lord Rikkart.  Rikkart, a seemingly seasoned ball-attendant, took great interest in the party.  The tiger-leonin let them quickly know some of the manor's intricacies as well as some of the drama which occurred at previous balls (including a beheading of a vampire on the dance floor)   Nessa and Cal then mozied their way towards the manor's dancefloor, promising to one another that they would do "just one dance" to Nessa's dismay   Just as the two were about to dance, a vampire DJ took the stage and put on a vampire favorite, "The Vampire Shuffle".  The song was so stupidly tacky and coordinated (almost like a vampire version of the cha-cha-slide) that the two decided they would not embarass themselves and wait for the next dance   As the two lovebirds returned to the lobby, the IRS continued to scope out the mansion from its upper level, kind of keeping to themselves defensively.  They were trying to form a plan to help out those who were in the manor against their will, spotting both of Rhea's now-vampiric allies on the dance floor enjoying themselves   The Lady Phylloxera then, after emerging from a bedchamber, cornered Riz 'O and invited him to feast upon one of the manor's help.  However, still having a "ruined appetite from the goat" he ate, he refused and parted ways with the lady   Nessa enjoyed a dance with a Lord Darius (which she led, unsurprisingly), the tiefling companion of the banshee Rhea. She learned quickly that the man enjoyed his new life-after-death where he didn't have to worry about their adventures or the struggles of taking care of a whole party.  Though the man did wonder about how his compatriot Holstern was holding up, as he seemed to lose much of his fire after becoming an undead   Finishing up her dance, Nessa located an awkwardly-proportioned man at the end of the oncoming line dance who revealed himself to be the one and only Lord Gregg   Lord Gregg chatted with the "Lady Nessa" and her compatriot "Caelum" as they chatted on the dancefloor about various things regarding vampirism; Favorite blood flavors, how they were turned, etc.  The man also mentioned he curiously enjoyed astral projecting, saying he had "multiple courts" to his name   Soon after, Lady Gen with a blood-filled wine glass in-hand approached Lord Gregg, delivering the drink swiftly onto his suit.   The man's expression and body went from kind and small to furious and recoiling, as the vampire had a glowing purple aura appear around him, which Gen shockingly recognized all-too-well as being that of a high-ranking Quori spirit   Gen brought out her yellow aura'd Quori soon after, with the high-ranking Karalach Quori critiquing her as a "insignificant whelp" in Quori, and her clapping back to hit the man and his spirit in a place they both hurt   Just then, Lord Rikkart burst in and began setting rules for a duel between the lords and their clergies, with the fiery Lord Riz 'O demanding that there be increased stakes to the duel   Countess L'ar-Bashet soon took the room's attention, with her slowly crossing the dancefloor to verify the rankings of both vampires in order to increase the stakes, however Lord Riz 'O was unable to provide such paperwork of an estate   The duel's rules were then set, with any weapons allowed from either side, and the duel ending upon either side falling dead.  With odds of 10:1 against them, the IRS tried to cash in by putting over 20 Silver on the line   The battle began, and immediately Riz 'O's vampire clergy surrounded Lord Gregg, who, with a divinely-timed crit from Gen, made short work of the proud vampire.  Though, this did receive alarming gasps from the crowd, quickly revealing Gen and the rest of the party's true identities as likely alive   In the span of 15 seconds, the 6-on-4 match became a 5-on-4, as the vampire lord retreated to his crypt in a mist form   The long battle persisted for the next couple of minutes, with vampires running up and down columns to take pot-shots at the IRS.  Ultimately, though, the vampire's battle was a losing effort from the start   Throughout the duel, many of the vampires were outraged that a paladin infiltrated their ranks, however Lord Rikkart calmed the masses and kept the angered vampires under control for the IRS   At the end of the duel, the manor's Countess kindly asked the paladin-harboring party to leave the manor, with Lord Rikkart offering to see them out.  Side-effect: Riz 'O's battle earned him an actual lordship thanks to defeating Gregg and not being found-out by the vampires   Lord Rikkart then discussed with the party about many oddities regarding the city, including the source of the city's miasma being something the Lord referred to as "The Machine".   This "machine" seemed to be some sort of Amidrakh invention which is capable of raising an undead army, and the invention came about after the fall of The Amidrakh.  Lord Rikkart warned that the conflict happening between the Vomethndans and Ezlekhians would likely be impacted greatly from this faction's involvement soon according to movements he was noticing in the city proper   Lord Rikkart also mentioned the strange purple gemstones in the Countess's crown, saying that with enough of these strange gemstones that the miasma of Öchigdör-Margaash may be navicable even by the living   The Lord then bid the party adeau, not before Cal's estute observations let him know that the man appeared to actually be a Rakshasa, not a leonin   The party then met back up with Rhea in the temple's marketplace, whom was somewhat relieved to hear that her compatriots were happy inside of Solikh Manor.  The party were then able to ask Rhea about the temple's secrets, with the temple seemingly changing dependent on the phases of the moon.  The party was informed that the entire temple would be available upon two new moons being located in the sky   With this knowledge being given to them, Rhea finally faded as she seemed to have no more business on the material plane left   As the party, excited to have helped someone out, ascended the steps of the Öchigdör-Margaash temple Ruins, they exited the temple to find their ally Captain Scuv dead and their other ally Fenrir completely missing
