USPS Session 19: Setup for the Showdown Report
General Summary
The session started with plenty of things left to do in Heilagur. As Diaga and Roger were selling their arms and legs (practically and actually), Harvoni wanted to check on her research partner Ondska.
Ondska, seemingly busy with something on his mind, greeted Harvoni with a half-hearted hello. Harvoni mentioned that she just wanted to stop by and confirm with the preoccupied man that they were still on to meet in Kavios for the continuing of their work together.
Ondska reassured that this was the case, though he felt slightly worried that with the war just on the horizon, he wanted to ensure that that wouldn’t get in the way of his work.
Harvoni eased his worries, saying that they would make it work despite that. Thanking Harvoni for checking in, and for making his day brighter, Ondska waved off Harvoni and continued looking at the constellations on his ceiling.
After that exchange, and a good night’s sleep, the crew set off on the rasktog towards Tralljór.
While on their way Southbound, half a day’s trip and halfway to Utdanning, the rasktog stopped at a station to cool off its engine and allow Party 2 to stretch their legs.
Taking the opportunity to see some sites, Roger and Harvoni, along with NPC Willow, went to check out the supposed “Fountain of Youth” located somewhere near the foothills they stopped in.
Roger and Harvoni reached a cracked bridge which they had to cross to get to the fountain’s supposed location, and as Roger tried to clear the gap, he jumped onto the bridge as it fell 75ft downwards, with Roger landing on a slightly lower ledge.
Roger motioned to Harvoni that he found a small tunnel leading orthogonally into the rock face, so the two went through the tight space
Roger and Harvoni did some harvesting, and right at the end of the harvesting, they heard strange chanting coming from deep within the tunnel.
The two then began sneaking towards the sound ahead of them, finding a small lit opening in the cavern where a group of 6 college boys were found drinking from a stone bowl and chanting “CHUG CHUG CHUG” over and over
As the boys finished off the rest of whatever was in the bowl, Roger and Harvoni launched a surprise attack on them, finishing off two of them nearly immediately.
One armed boy was able to fire a pistol in his sheer state of shock, badly wounding Harvoni, however it was too little too late as the boys all fell to Party 2’s overwhelming might
Inspecting the fruits of their labor, Harvoni noticed that the blood spilled by the boys seemed to shimmer in the light. Inspecting the room also revealed that there was a small 2” diameter hole in the ground with some shimmering water; “Probably the actual Fountain of Youth!” exclaimed Harvoni
As Harvoni collected a vial of shimmering blood, Roger drank from the pool of the boys blood, feeling no significant immediate change to his body. As Party 2 burned the bodies, and Roger harvested from them, Roger tried his best to get the remainder of the Fountain’s Water which had now receded into the hole in the ground, sending some Fey rats to fetch some in their mouths Roger, satisfied with a few more rat’s mouthfuls of the elixir, bolted from the cave as to not miss the rasktog’s departure Making it just in-time, Party 2 collected themselves and set off for Utdanning. On the way, Harvoni and Roger noticed that there were fronts of Vomethndan troops seemingly performing military exercises, but it almost seemed like an actual march. Strange… Arriving in the city nearly 3 hours later, Harvoni wasted no time, as she only had 1 hour to spare before the next leg of the trip. She bolted from the rasktog towards the Kappi Research Institute’s Campus, not before noticing that much fewer Promaticans walked the streets than last time, and the crest for the city had slightly changed colors, revealing a maroon and cyan flourish on the bottom; could this mean something? Harvoni made it to campus, as a student stopped her, asking if she has been put on a government contract like most of the other students, and if he could join. Harvoni said no and continued on her way to Uta’s apartment, only to find it empty. As Harvoni remembered that she asked Uta to go to Tralljór’s Soundwave Showdown, she headed out to catch the rasktog to Tralljór. On the way, Harvoni was hailed by her old friend Dr. Vel Motby, who seemed to be much happier about the shape of the city than last time they had seen him. Motby mentions that some sort of deal was stricken with the Promaticans, stopping their encampment in the city, and instead housing much less of the troops in specially-quartered apartments. As Motby waves Harvoni goodbye, he adds that he cannot make the Battle of the Bands, but instead is a contributing sponsor to the event, pleasing Harvoni greatly. Party 2 then make their last leg of the trip to Tralljór, and upon heading into the village, they see a conglomeration of extremely strange-looking folk all meeting with a Tortle woman. As Party 2 begins approaching the stage, the woman introduces herself as Jarl Gudrun, allowing the rest of the people at the meeting to introduce themselves as well. Apparently the other people in the town square are other bands who have arrived early to help set the festival up! Party 2 is then introduced to James Balor, Vampire Weekend, The Vials Davis Experience, Night Shift, and Spare the Dying (who had road the rasktog with them) As the bands all disperse, being told that they will meet the next morning to divvy up tasks, Harvoni and Diaga begin chatting up Vampire Weekend, as they may know something about the sparkly blood that Harvoni just came upon. Calling upon their drummer Phoenix, Vampire Weekend explains that apparently there are different Fountains of Youth around the world, but there’s only one supposed real one. All of the others have some sort of catch or curse to them. As this truth sinks in, the party determine that their next best move is to find Brynhil and catch up before the festival starts. As Willow looks for Brynhil at her house, she can’t seem to find her. As the party reach a consensus, they head to the Pläded Krona’s other member’s house, the residence of Tseren Tolgrav…
