Rhaelor Sanguinar

Red dragonborn paladin, Broodknight of House Sanguinar, and Shield of the Crimson Queen. Leader of the Knights of the Sacred Flame, a splinter faction of the Church of Lightbringer. Chief Lieutenant to Cap, the Seeker.

History

The 39th and youngest of his brood, Rhaelor is the son of Rhaelic, a red dragon consort in the Dragonflight of the Crimson Queen. Dragonborn fill a myriad of roles, from protecting lairs and dragon eggs to working as spies and thieves in the advancement of the Crimson Queen's objectives. The strongest of the red dragonborn are chosen as Broodknights, and are used as frontline soldiers in the Eternal War. As a young Broodknight, Rhaelor was in charge of a dragonborn battalion tracking an undead lich. Rhaelor’s party was slow to track and catch the lich, who they eventually discovered inside a green dragon lair. The lich and his minions had already killed the dragon mother and her wardens, and stolen her dragon eggs. Rhaelor rescued the infant dragonborn and--against all custom---raised him in the Red Dragonflight. As a result, Rhaelor was stripped of his position and cast out into the world to redeem himself. He would eventually come into contact with Mordicon, Master of Magic, and they became allies in an effort to bring the dragonflights to Aedrus.

Events in Aedrus

Rhaelor, now disguised in a powerful illusion as a human warrior, established himself in the coastal city of Caleum before eventually joining the city guard in Gedone. He later became a devout member of the Church of Lightbringer, which appealed to his sense of honor and unbending morality. Upon meeting Cap and the other Forerunners, he swore allegiance and now leads the Knights of the Sacred Flame. In 182 KE, Rhaelor led the Aegis Knights in the Battle of Prophecy's End, and helped Mordicon bring about the Seer's Prophecy.
