Church of Lightbringer

Religious order in the Kingdom of Andor, dedicated to the worship of the god Lightbringer.

History

Founded in the early days of the Kingdom's formation, the Church of Lightbringer was the first organized religion in Aedrus to grow on a national scale. Construction of the Sun Cathedral began in 38 KE, and its completion drew new worshippers from across the human cities.

Political Structure

The Church is led by a single religious authority, the Sunlord, but multiple political factions vie for power. In recent years, a group known as the Theologists rose to dominance inside the church, but the discovery that some of their members were working in secret with the Cult of Arc'Tun threw the church into disarray. The Seekers, who believe divine inspiration comes from the Aegis (a holy relic of the church), have publicly opposed the Theologists. Their de facto leader, Cap, has split from the Church completely and organized the Knights of the Sacred Flame, with the goal of purging corruption from the order.
