Aegis of the Crimson Queen

A red-and-yellow shield inscribed with the sacred flame symbol of the Crimson Queen. It is an ancient and holy relic of the Precursor Dragons, with the power to rally the hearts and minds of followers to its cause.

History

A sacred relic of the Crimson Queen, the Aegis was planted centuries ago in Aedrus by agents of the red dragonflight. Rhaelor Sanguinar was sent to keep tabs on the relic and to prepare the way for the Lords of Cycle to enter Aedrus.   Over time, it became one of the most revered artifacts in the Church of Lightbringer, its origins lost to history as the Aegis predated nearly all other sacred objects in the Kingdom.   In the modern era, the Aegis has been housed in the Cathedral of Dawn, located in Gedone near the city center. Prophecies speculate that it is tied to a specific claimant known as the Seeker, but ambiguity in the reading has led to division in the church, who align according to Seeker and Theologist factions.

The Seeker's Aegis is one of the supreme achievements of our church .... Its survival over six centuries is little short of miraculous ... Its exceptional durability, the harmony and freshness of its colours, its exquisite workmanship, and the genius of its guiding spirit combine to make it endlessly fascinating
