Tirith Sûl

The Tirith Sûl are a tribe of wood elves domiciled within the magical forest of Eryn Sael. They were formed out of the remnants of the Idhren Dominion. After exploring the forest and discovering an Ancient Wellspring, the elves withdrew from their settlements in the grasslands of Tusnya. As the tribe blossomed, they rejected their past as elven settlers and now serve as protectors of the edolia trees and the arcane wellspring.

History

After severing their connection with Tol Annûn, the elves began establishing their dominion over Eryn Sael. At first there was very little they understood about the forest and the creatures that lived there, especially the fey. The elves initially settled in close proximity to the Ancient Wellspring as it amplified their magical prowess and allowed them to protect themselves in the wilderness. However even with pure arcane magic at their fingertips, they struggled to grow and survive as a tribe within the forest. It wasn't until a member of their tribe decided to disavow the arcane and instead embrace the natural magic around him that caused the god of the wilds, Finerdhil, to commune directly with the elf, and reveal the truth about Eryn Sael. The forest itself serves as a bastion to natural magic, and to the very realm of the wilds itself. The wellspring has accentuated the natural planar rifts to appear throughout the forest, causing a seamless transition between Unum and Silvestris, and allowing fey creatures to travel to and from with ease.   After the elves communed with Finderdhil, they became blessed with newfound abilities and an affinity towards the forest around them. They were no longer high elves, but divinely reconstructed into wood elves. They began to see the rifts and were able to traverse between planes themselves. Abilities became inherent, such as commune with nature and felt a natural harmony with their surroundings. In exchange, Finderdhil tasked the Tirith Sûl with protecting the forest, especially the edolia trees. These trees had a unique bond with Silvestris, and contained a magical essence not found anywhere else in Aecenys.

Territories

After their initial colonization of the area around the Ancient Wellspring, the elves of Tirith Sûl slowly expanded their borders. Eventually they controlled the entirety of Eryn Sael but stopped soon after. Upon their expansion towards settlements they once held as the Idhren Dominion, they were met with heavy resistance from the forces of Riven and Beystone. After the Verdant War, the elves resigned themselves to dominion over the forest, and have become increasingly hostile to any interlopers.

Religion

Worship of Finerdhil is the only accepted religion of Tirith Sûl. Many of the elves serve the Church of Finderdhil as clerics, druids, rangers and paladins. The god of the wild is present in the tribes everyday customs, from the way they pray, to how they hunt and prepare food, and especially the way they practice  magic. Even though Ettuna is the goddess of arcane magic, the other gods have ways of incorporating such magic into their portfolios as well. Ancient shrines and sanctuaries dedicated to Finerdhil can be found throughout the forest, typically in locations with an abundance of edolia trees.   A small subsect within Tirith Sûl worships Ishenalyr, an ancient green dragon who has existed in Eryn Sael long before any elves arrived. They look to him as the true source of power within the forest, and believe that if they serve the dragon, they will be blessed with draconic abilities themselves. Worship of Ishenalyr is forbidden and punishable by death.
