Shadow Lions
Dardian: Júkax /juːkhaːks/
Shadow lions are endemic to Darden, a coastal plain in the southwestern part of the continent, where they hunt for wild goats, deer and horses, and occasionally kill livestock in the southern region of Harúnnen. The local Dardians sometimes hunt the lions to show off their bravery, as not only are they fierce but also have an exceptionally tough hide, which can only be pierced with enchanted weapons. Slings are also used to throw magic crystals at them to distract the lions.
Some Dardians believe that their greatest warriors and tribal chiefs reincarnate as shadow lions to test their people, and by defeating one and ritually consuming its meat they are granted the ferocity of a lion and blessings of the ancestors.
