Talia's Bounty

As summer approaches its end, we dance and sing together, a most humble celebration. A thanks, a celebration, an honor to the Lady. Her bounty provides, her rhythm protects, her cycle maintains balance. Oh Talia, grace this humble festivity with your motherly touch, with your youthful steps, and with your wisdom of love. Let food and drink flow, let merriment sing loud, and let the the joy and creativity reign for these few days for those whom work so hard to feed all. We honor the farmers, we honor the hunters, we honor the foragers, for these days belong to them, to show us they are more than providers. To show us that which they hold dear and to bare it in a place of love and joy. Let us see the bounty of the Lady of the Leaves, and bless this humble festivity. Namaste

The prayer of the Summer Harvest, marking the opening of the celebration known as Talia's Bounty.

Talia's Bounty is one of the nine major festivals of the Valerian year, celebrated in almost every community you can think of. But similar to the Final March in Suranth, in Depenwood, Talia's Bounty is a unique occurance. This festival is meant to celebrate the early harvest, but also so much more.

It is a festival to celebrate the peoples whom put food on the tables of society, not celebrate just their skill and profession, but them as people. Their passions. Be it smokehouse cooking, baking, leatherwork, toolsmithing, trap-making, sewing, quilting, wood-carving, working shanties, carpentry, ale making, distilling, dancing, or others, this festival is a celebration of it all. The working hands arts and crafts, the sorts of relaxing hobbying that those whom insure the rest of us can eat well every day enjoy. Calloused hands do not mean a lack of artistry. It just means their arts will be different from the classical. Instruments, painting, sketching, writing, these may occur, and do, but they do not dominate these festivities. They are simply less common among such folk. No it is the more hands on, hands dirty, and physically involved creative pursuits that dominate these festivities.

Dates of the Festivities: The 26th, 27th and 28th of Hova, the 28th being the holy day of Talia, the Sun-Touched Harvest.

A very neatly put together celebration and I enjoyed the focus on finding the artistic touch in even in the most mundane crafts, letting them show pride in their work and celebrating their important contributions to society. The opening prayer was really lovely.

Thank you, it was a fun little touch to come up with, took a few tries to put together in a way I was happy with, I'm glad you enjoyed the prayer, definitely was the part that took the most fiddling and thought :)

The introduction prayer really says it all. Celebrating those who put food on the table is much appreciated and I love that there is no discrimination to any kind of craft!   Keep up the good work! :D
