Antilis Fairmeadows Character in Adventures in Valerick TTRPG | World Anvil

Antilis Fairmeadows

Well, well, if its your first time exploring the Forgotten Moors, I do have someone I suggest you talk to, perhaps even let guide you to Bifen, which is basically the last civilized outpost within the Moors, at an outer edge of course. Though I will warn you, she is....a strange one. Miss Fairmeadows has been living in Bifen and searching the region for quite some time, she hasn't moved on whilst the others of her original adventuring company are dead or they have. However for her this place seems a singular fascination. Something about the place, she wishes to see it made well. Her mind is a little...unhinged though, as one might expect living in and around a World-Wound for the better part of a decade. She comes by every now and again, usually sends word to. She sent word a few days ago, and she should likely arrive tonight or early in the morn. No finer a guide or resource of knowledge about the Forgotten Moors will you find and I am sure she can provide you with a bit more of a map or something like it to work with as well, a few more points of reference besides Bifen. Once again however, I cannot emphasis enough she is....strange, and perhaps a little unhinged. Oh and most importantly don't ever, even on accident, sneak up behind her in a fashion where you suprise or startle her, or you will likely catch a bullet.

Vel'rin's description of one Antilis Fairmeadows, the halfman lady whom is becoming something of a cult attraction along with the Forgotten Moors themselves.

Antilis Fairmeadows had always wanted to travel. Originally from Susma, nation composed of mostly desert and savannah on the continent of Gavis-Lune, at a young age, she took off from home, joining up with a fellow whom was also heavy with wanderlust, Daresh Alshiza, a fellow Susmian skilled in the performative arts. The pair took off from their homes and such did the adventures of the founding members of the Vagabonders begin. Over the months and years as they made a bit of a name for themselves as mercenaries at home, and later abroad, they also made three other fast friends whom would join with them. Emile Jefferys, a magister of the Sapphire Order, Gorv Holti, a Tantur priest of Deat-Kra, and Victoria Eriksson, a warrior from Raechin. Over those years Antilis herself became well known for being a skilled hunter and scoundrel, and she taught herself all about firearms in particular. She's never seen without her trusty five-shot revolver. The group garnered some notable level of fame and made their way, eventually, to Depenwood.

Upon arriving to the Eternal Boreal, and more specifically Kelethan, the Vagabonders found themselves quickly drawn in, as many adventurers before and since, to the stories about the Forgotten Moor, and specifically the idea that somewhere deep in that foul place, one could perhaps discover the remains of Kel'vinshi. The implications, the rewards one would recieve, the accolades, the coin from the Talian church, and the prestige, well the idea is intoxicating. Thus, about fifteen years ago, the Vagabonders, after a few small forays and explorations near the edges of the Moors, worked up the confidence and will to attempt to do it. To scour the place, to find Kel'vinshi.

None truly know what happened, But what is known is after six months, when they were all long thought dead, Antilis reappeared in Bifen, wild eyed, with a fevered, sickly and confused Daresh in tow, as well as Victoria. Of Gorv and Emile there was no sign and to this day, Antilis and Victoria refuse to talk about it. Daresh, sadly did not make it. He was to sick, to far gone, even the help of an Emerald Magister was futile, and Antilis did not have the coin to afford the magister to attempt to bring him back from the dead. Victoria, soon after Daresh's death, left the region, and is said to have returned to Raechin. Antilis however, stayed. She knows the Moor better than anyone alive, as she is obsessed with the place.

Antilis stands about three and a half feet tall, with stunning orange hair she keeps in a loose messy bun, and piercing green eyes that seem to be aflame with some level of madness. Her sense of time is even disrupted and broken, as she is unsure of her own age completely, saying anywhere from sixty to eighty years old if asked. You can see the cracks in the poor woman's sanity in her eyes, though she wears whatever madness ails her well enough, and is mostly harmless, coherent, and an excellent guide. None really know why she stayed, or what her goals or motivations actually are. She seems bound and determined to explore every inch of the Forgotten Moor, as if she can't let go. She lives in Bifen now, exposed day in and day out to the outer edges of the place, that Scar upon Reality, and most certainly this does not help her stability or piece of mind. She oft sells her services, in a fashion, to other wanna be explorers and adventurers, as she knows the outer edges of the Forgotten Moor very well, and will sometimes sign on as a guide or companion for weeks or months at a time. She may be quite strange, perhaps a little mad, but she is highly perceptive and aware, a damn excellent tracker, knows the terrain, and is a crack shot.

Show spoiler
Antilis knows much more than she let on, and is in a way, testing people. She occasionally will lead her clients into bad situations, such as Hisker ambushes, or an Eshilen Viper's den, or perhaps worse over time, as if testing their capabilities. Perhaps she remembers more than she claims, perhaps she is seeking companions to help her avenge her fallen comrades. Or maybe she is enthralled by something dark and ancient and evil deep in the Forgotten Moor, perhaps even in the ruins of Kel'vinshi itself, and she is tasked with seeking worthy sacrifices/meals/trophys or some other such. She is a fun concept, but also a potentially very useful GM tool in the right stories.
