Aeronautic Bond/Aeromancy

"After those of the Amethyst Order, we arrive in our studies to those of the Opal Order, those bonded to the essence of Aeir. Here of course, those of you so bonded to Doitean will have comparable things happen to you, there will be some shared experiences and understanding between the two. However as with all things, there are many notable differences as well between those marked in the Aether with the Aeronautic Bond versus those previously discussed under the Pyromantic Bond. So now let us establish what those of you so marked will experience as they grow in ability and power, as they strengthen that bond to Aeir."

First Arcanist Theresa Lindlewood, giving the introductory lecture to the a hall of several dozen newly marked magister hopefuls in the Academia of Octi, the largest campus of the Magisterium, in the city of Valenwood.

Those of the Opal Order spend the time before they are fully recognized as apprentices of the Order studying and sharpening the mind and body, working on agility and quickness in both and thought and action. They will study a wide breadth of subjects, anything that may catch their interest, for the mind is like any muscle. If you do not use it, it will decay and fail you. This is also part of growing into a true magister, and learning to come to grips with how their intimate relationship with Aeir will effect them.

Manifestation

The Aeronautic Bond will manifest, like all of them do, in a variety of ways. Dietary choices, physical appearance, training methods, discipline, all these things have a role to play and have both effects, and outcomes of this bonding as one becomes a Magister, and is altered physically, emotionally and physiologically by this intimate bond with this primal force.

Physical Changes

Those whom experience the Aeronautic Bond will go through notable physical changes due to this primal connection. One that quickly become noticeable, the first to do so, are a dramatic, yet not unhealthy looking, loss of weight. They seem to become lean, lanky, lithe in build over but a few weeks. A second change, a strange one that becomes noticeable after an apprentice weaves their first Opal spell-form and becomes permanent, is complete heterochromia, as one of their eyes will become a soft sky blue, the other a dark storm-cloud grey. When actively channeling Aeir or weaving a spell-form, these eyes will seem to crackle, little dark blue bolt like lines shimmering and flashing within them like lightning.

Besides these sorts of changes, there are a few other ones that may manifest over time. It is rare for an Opal magister to experience all of these, but generally over their life one or two of these will manifest themselves in addition to those listed above;

  • Thinning and silvering of hair, but not in the way of old age. More so as if their hair becomes like that of clouds, long, thin, yet healthy, and very flowy. No curls, their hair simply won't hold such things, so determined is it to be loose and flowy

  • A silvering opulescent finish of the finger nails

  • A change in dietary preference, to prefer cool, sharp, almost minty flavors along with things on the sweeter end of the spectrum.

  • A slight, but notable constant breeze around them, their hair and clothes always acting as if there is some amount of wind.

Emotional Changes

Unlike their brethren of the Ruby Order, those of the Opal Order experience something more akin to a tightening of their emotional spectrum, a kind of restrained control within it. This is not to say they are like those of the Amethyst Order, where it is surpressed, no it is more like a lower amount of reactivity. A more overarching calmness and simple adaptability and stability within the wild world. Those of the Opal Order, their minds work so fast, their bodies as well, that they need not tap into emotional adrenaline very often. They are not passive, like their Ruby brethren, they tap into a passionate and aggressive side often, but unlike the explosive nature of pyromancy, their emotional state is more...contained. They maintain a constant level of high emotional energy, that does not ever reach the peak of a Ruby Magister, but also never truly reaches the valley of emotional burnout one of their Ruby brethren can experience. They ride the highs and lows quite well, adaptively, as one might expect of those magisters of Aeir.

Physiological Changes

Magister of the Opal Order do seem to be underweight noticeably, though not terribly so, for their size. They seem to have a lesser appetite as well, eating only perhaps once or twice a day and never a large amount all at once. Many theorize this is due to the efficent nature of Aeir influencing and effecting how their bodies process food and water, though in truth this is but an unproven theory. They also seem to never really notice how hot or cold an environment is, their body temperature consistently just at a happy medium, which can be very confusing and disorienting for a time until a magister becomes used to this.

Finally, in a vein similar to their Ruby brethren, those of the Opal Order need only about four hours of sleep, though they still require the full eight hours of time to benefit from a long rest. They simply need only four hours of sleep naturally within that time frame.

Magicks of Aeromancy

The arts of Aeromancy are that of flexibility and adaptability, of both mind and body. As the winds themselves we must be ever changing, ever growing, ever responding and adapting to the wider world around us. So to is the fundamental truth of the manipulation of Aeir. The currents of Aeir are unpredictable in their ebbs and flows, their gusts and calms. Aeromancy is the practice, fundamentally, of simply riding those wild currents. Of being swift enough of mind, flexible enough of intellect, adaptable enough of learning to shape the winds themselves.

The source of any Aeromancer's power comes from the Opal Manna of Aeir, that of wind and air. Aeir, sibling to Doitean, is similarly volatile and unpredictable, however its peaks and valleys, energetically speaking, are less violent, less notable, than that of Doitean. Unlike that of fire, the air challenges those whom would wield it via pushing and challenging there flexibility, their rapid adaptability, pushing their mental limits, their capability to adjust and adapt on the fly. As such, the largest difficulty in Aeromancy is the spell-work itself, which naturally has no real set formula, merely rough guidance and theory education, for every spell-form's process, though the end results will be the same, the forming of, the manipulating of manna will be a different procedure every single time.

An Aeromancer's mastery of this bonding connection with Aeir can be manifest through a variety of spell-forms listed below;
