The Void
Everything that exists in the universe is - or is inside - the Void. It is roughly comparable in its existence to real-life space, however the Void is far more complicated in actuality. You can breathe despite there being no air. You can walk despite there being no surface. You can fall despite there being no gravity.
It is inhabited only by souls, manifestations of pure energy, coalesced into a semi-living being. Greater inhabitants, dubbed Voidborns, are merely thousands upon thousands of souls that collected together to form an emergent creature. There are very few such naturally-occuring creatures, the only two being the Almighty and Krel'Outama, both of which can be considered deities. There are other voidborn beings, however, that were artificially constructed by Krel, such as Void Beasts or the Void Weavers. Most confusing of all, it's 4-dimensional. The Void and all its inhabitants all exist within the 4th dimension, existing in a realm we simply cannot comprehend. Somewhere within it is Adremesis; separated only by the The Dimensional Filter, Adremesis was the world that the Almighty created to nurture the endless souls of the Void. There is only one way to get to and from Adremesis, and that's to open a rift. Opening a rift from the Void can only be done by the Almighty or Krel as they are the only voidborns powerful enough. Causing one from inside Adremesis takes significantly more effort but it is certainly possible by casting a Doorway to the Void , like when Ifris did just so in 559 BFB. Wherever a rift is opened, a rift in an equivalent location is torn open on the other side. Multiple places in the Void can lead to the same location on Adremesis, due to the difference in dimensions. The rift acts like any other doorway, enabling passage to the otherside. The Dimensional Filter is unaffected by any rifts and cannot be avoided by anyone or anything. 3-dimensional beings are safe to pass through the Filter without any issues, however voidborns will be temporarily stripped of their 4th dimension (with it being restored when they return to the Void).
