Kranaga boats

Kranaga boats are the thing to see in the lake nations. They are at the heart of a deep relationship between the Karanaga Giant Snakes of the lake and the people who live here. Everything from one to eight person boats, to loads that can carry three elephants worth, are harnessed to karanaga or a team of karanaga, who are guided by a charioteer over the vast lake. Karanaga boat making is a quality controlled industry for the nation of the lake. Everything from the one person chariot to the experimental Behemoth, that was pulled by thirty snakes and could pull a house, are mostly made by one of seven established families that have been making the boats for generations. The boats and the relationship it establishes with the Karanaga is such a large part of the culture. There are island settlements all throughout the lake that started because of the boats, like the entire inner lake city of Daboor. Included in its many island kranaga boat yards is a space dedicated to the care of karanaga, including special preparations of Tri-Flesh   It is even part of the sport culture. Daboor hosts Kranaga races, and even jousting, with strict rules that ban attacking the opponents karanaga.   The actual charioteers of all these boats are usually hired Snake-Lahks because of their clairvoyance with the snake. As an otherwise amesha nation, some experienced amesha who have already ridden with a snake-lahk charioteer has established a deep enough relationship with the finicky karanaga. In general though, because snake-lahks can translate between the Karanka and amesha boat owner, it is considered disrespectful to not hire one.
