Imperium

"In the days of old the mage-lords on the island of Ryva grew powerful. Over long centuries they expanded their reach, so that eventually they ruled a great realm. All the lands where they held sway came under their Imperium."
— Eternal Entropy. The fall of Imperial order.
The Imperium was one of the four empires which once dominated Adar. The islands of Ryva and Evonia, and the Royal archipelago were all united under the authority of the Imperium. The fall of the empire is shrouded in mystery. The mage-lords who ruled the empire, along with the entire capital city of Alachia vanished during the last Conclave of Lords. In the aftermath the Imperium was torn appart by civil war. The arrival of Elves on Evonia, and the exodus of the Orcs did not help matters.    In the former territories of the Empire it is common to count dates from the Fall of the Imperium.

History

The Imperium was founded by the Alachian people, who united the tribes surrounding their city and formed a kingdom in the 9th century BIC. At the time the dwarven people were already in decline, and human tribes were moving to fill the power vacuum. Alachia was the most successful of these and assumed control of the entire Island of Ryva by the end of the 6th century BIC. They even recieved the fealthy of the dwarves of Valammar. From there the Imperium expanded its reach. The Orcish tribes on Evonia had all submitted by 340 BIC, while the Royal Archipelago was gradually conquered from 400 BIC to about 200 BIC.   At its hight the Imperium was considered "First Among Equals" among the Four Great Empires. Together these four mighty realms divided the world between them to ensure peace. This led to a period known as the "Imperial Peace".

Disbandment

In its final decades the Imperium was haunted by civil war and slave uprisings. The Imperial Conclave was called in 0 BIC to broker a peace between the various factions. Instead the disappearance of the entire Imperial ruling class, along with the capital city; led to the swift collapse of the Empire.
