Jovius

"Jovius, the great lord of the Sol system. Dwarfing all his brothers and sisters in the sol system, he truly had deserved the title of the king of the planets. The beautiful brown and red bands had swirled across its surface, with the great floating megacities located there. From the surface, Sol itself seemed a small blazing speck high up in the sky. To me, it was beautiful looking at the swirling cloud bands below. Besides visiting Terra, after almost half a millenium, this was the most welcoming sight in the Sol system, to see that mankind had conquered unconquerable frontiers regardless of the challenges posed by them"   Soras Valcoran, upon visiting the Sol system after half a millenarian, remarking on mankind conquering the great planet Jovius
Jovius (also known as Jupiter) is the largest and most massive planet in the Sol system. Dwarfing all of its brethren, this large world serves as the industrial heart of the Sol system as well as the capital of the outer solar system, producing gigantic amounts of ships and hydrogem-helium fuel that are used in nuclear fusion reactors, as well as large amounts of antimatter, the most expensive element in the universe and a very efficient source of energy and fuel for short distance in-system travel. Large floating megacities are scattered around various parts of the world, collecting and processing the fuel and resources mined from the planet. In the forges of Jovius, the ships of the Imperial navy are born , shaped by the great Jovian furnaces in order to defend mankind.

Geography

Jovius is one of the great gas giants of the Sol system, besides Kronos, the great ringed giant. Situated right beyond the asteroid belt between itself and Mars, this gigantic world is larger and more massive than all the other planets of the Sol system combined. Jovius is mostly composed of hydrogen and helium which rests on top of a layer of supercritical hydrogen and a gigantic Iron core. The planet has an atmosphere that has been changed over the course of centuries to make the atmosphere more suitable to humans, but still retains its original colour and most of its pristinity. The planet is fabled for its gigantic megacities that are situated across the "surface" of Jovius, being primarily responsible for refining the raw hydrogen and helium into fuel for nuclear fusion plants as well as refining the antimatter into safer and more easily handleable forms.

Jovian Boreal lights

"The Jovian lights lit up the sky in a way Terra"s aurorae could never do. The red and golden bands seemed to stretch for eternity along the sky, turning night into the beautiful light of the dawn. It was truly an amazing sight to see"   Soras Valcoran, upon seeing the Jovian lights for the first time
Perhaps the most identifiable feature of Jovius besides the storm of the bloody eye are the beautiful aurorae that blanket the northern areas of the planet. These aurorae are caused by interferences from charged particles of the sun in the gigantic magnetosphere of Jovius. They are quite similar to the fabled auroa borealis and australis of Terra, except that they put their terrestrial counterparts to shame owing to the sheer size of the Jovian lights, with some being recorded to be even larger than Terra itself.

Furnaces of Jovius

" In the throes and bellows of the great furnaces of Jovius, the protectors of the cosmic ocean are born. Forged from the metals of Terra and Mars and the flames of Jovius, these ships protect the cosmos against the dread forces of the breaker"   Words written on a plaque at the entrance to one of Jovius's great forges
Jovius is the industrial heartland of the Sol system, producing tens of thousands of warships and other military vessels that guard the entire solar system. Most of the metals and other heavy materials are brought from the asteroid belt and Mars, and most of the actual forging work besides some other parts happens on Jovius. The great forges of Jovius are located in the large megacities themselves, where tens of thousands of the inhabitants of those settlement go on to work on the various ships used by the Sol fleet.

Fauna & Flora

Jovius does not have any flora or fauna of its own but genetically engineered species roam across the skies of Jovius, thriving on exotic hydrogen and helium metabolisms. These organisms are used for supporting workers for mining hydrogen and helium. The great sky cities of Jovius, many Terran animals also roam, being protected from the hostile weather outside.

Natural Resources

"Jovius is filled to the brim with rich fuel. The very planet itself is made of fusion fuel, something that powers the entire Sol system."
Jovius, whilst lacking in heavy elements and metals, has three very very important resources. These three resources are the fuels and materials that most of the Sol system runs on. Since Jovius is primarily made of hydrogen and helium, two of the most used fuels in the solar system for power generation besides antimatter, it provided virtually all of the power that runs the sol system. The hydrogen and helium are also converted into other goods for industrial purposes, such as in the making of fusion weapons for imperial warships. . Most of the heavy materials used in the industries of Jovius are supplied either from its own four Galilean moons, the asteroid belt and Ceres or from Mars.   These three regions have a trade agreement amongst them where Jupiter and its system supply light volatile materials to the inner solar system whilst the inner solar system supplies heavier materials to Jupiter and the outer solar system.
