Lady's College Faculty
The Lady's College is ran by the Head Mage, and the 8 instructors each specializing in a particular school of magic. Volunteers among the student body help with administrative duties when necessary.
Head Mage
The Lady's College is ran by Head Mage Fay Mytersaal who serves as the Head of the College and as High Mage of Daemarrel. Daughter of Ciralath Mytersaal, Fay is the latest in a long line of Mytersaal women dedicated to overseeing the educational advancement of magic at the Lady's College, and tasked with providing magical defense for the ruling family of Daemarrel. Fay is a strict Head Mistress, though she has a softer side that is typically only seen by those who know her well. Those who become friends know her to be a kind-hearted and warm individual that cares deeply about the safety and achievement of her students. She inspires loyalty among the ruling families and nobility in Laskea, however she is viewed suspiciously by the commoners unfamiliar with magic. She takes the criticism in stride, and tends to do what is required to protect all regardless of what is thought of her. She is an ardent follower of Mystra and seeks to push her students in paying respects to the Lady of Mysteries in all they do.
Abjuration
The instructor of Abjuration is the Human Sophie Raven. She specializes in spells protective in nature, though some of them have aggressive uses. Abjuration spells create magical barriers, negate harmful effects, harm trespassers, or banish creatures to other planes of existence. At first glance, it would seem she is nothing but an old woman incapable of defending herself, however she would say she didn't get this far in life without being able to stand up for herself -- and she wishes to pass that knowledge on to the young women of the world. Not much is know about her past other than she was persuaded to instruct at the College by Fay Mytersaal, and moved from the swampland of Thiyn Glos. She is ornery, quite forward, and old-fashioned.
Students tend to give Sophie a wide berth, though there are a few that seek to pick her brain for everything that she knows. Those that seek such knowledge are often treated as grandchildren, and suffer the occasional whack of Sophie's staff while attempting to master what she teaches. Those that are made uncomfortable by Sophie all have various reasons as to why -- unnerved by her pet frog, lack of hygiene, or the smell of her tobacco pipe. Regardless of how the student body feels, Sophie Raven is an invaluable instructor at the Lady's College.
Conjuration
The instructor of Conjuration is the Sun Elf Azariah Farmyar. The school of Conjuration are spells which involve the transportation of objects and creatures from one location to another. Some spells summon creatures or objects to the caster’s side, whereas others allow the caster to teleport to another location. Some conjurations create objects or effects out of nothing. Originally from Sile Allanar, Azariah is every bit an academic Elf seeking to pass along her knowledge as if teaching her own kind -- and expects her students to equally have a voracious appetite for such knowledge. Azariah tends to be rather formal when engaging in social interactions and has been known to rub individuals the wrong way. She is not unkind, merely she epitomizes Elven culture and values which many perceive as arrogance. Those that know her know her to be a faithful and loyal instructor of the College and a follower of Mystra. She truly wishes those she teaches to master their particular school of magic, and anything she can do to help students achieve that is of her most immediate priority.
Divination
The instructor of Divination is the mischevious Tabaxi known as Velvet Clover. Preferring to go only by the name Velvet, the students of the College have given her the surname of Clover due to her luck. Velvet has overcome a number of near-death experiences during her travels through the southeastern lands of Abios before she was found by Fay Mytersaal and convinced to teach at the College. She originally hails from the jungles of southern Xeshana which is known to be inhabited by Lizardfolk, Yuan-Ti, and treacherous humans. Velvet is kind, warmhearted, and insatiably curious. She tends to stick her nose into people's business, and loves to learn of their history and future plans. This, of course, makes her adept in teaching the school of Divination, spells which reveal information, whether in the form of secrets long forgotten, glimpses of the future, the locations of hidden things, the truth behind illusions, or visions of distant people or places.
Enchantment
The instructor of Enchantment is the mysterious Minotaur woman Laantred Keenmind. Given the fact that Minotaurs are extremely rare to the inhabitants of Abios, her appearance and mere existence is a marvel for the students at the Lady's College. Laantred specializes in spells which affect the minds of others, influencing or controlling their behavior. Such spells can make enemies see the caster as a friend, force creatures to take a course of action, or even control another creature like a puppet. Laantred has had to use her skills as a means of surviving after becoming stranded on the continent of Abios -- the details of which are lost to Laantred. She originally hails from Taladas, an unknown location to all but those who can be trusted with such secrets. Laantred is soft-spoken, remains aloof from interacting socially, and is considered to have a meek personality. She agreed to teach at the Lady's College in exchange for a place of acceptance and protection by Fay Mytersaal.
Evocation
The instructor of Evocation is the Dragonborn female known as Malqorel Camber. She specializes in spells which manipulate magical energy to produce a desired effect. Some call up blasts of fire or lightning. Others channel positive energy to heal wounds. She hails from Edrax, specifically from the city of Rosebeach where she graduated the MakiaViri Chaswhi and became a follower of Mystra. She was easily convinced to teach at the Lady's College as a means of sharing her knowledge with those eager to learn, and to surround herself in an environment of academia. She is somewhat striking as Dragonborns go -- at a glance, one can easily see she carries the genes of a White Dragon within her. The majority of students avoid her, though those with a penchant for the rare and mysterious gravitate towards her. She has a surprisingly warm personality, though her mannerisms come off as cold. She enjoys her time at the College, and takes pride in her student's ability to master her realm of specialty.
Illusion
The instructor of Illusion is the only male within the Lady's College -- a Golden Retriever known as Sir Cornelius. Sir Cornelius specializes in spells which deceive the senses or minds of others. They cause people to see things that are not there, to miss things that are there, to hear phantom noises, or to remember things that never happened. Some illusions create phantom images that any creature can see, but the most insidious illusions plant an image directly in the mind of a creature. Sir Cornelius is a favorite of the student body, and they tend to go out of their way to lavish him with gifts and treats. Sir Cornelius attempts to reject the gifts as much as possible to not give the perception of favoritism, but a good snack or a piece of clothing that fits a golden retriever is hard to pass up. No one knows his backstory, and he absolutely refuses to discuss it as he perceives doing so would be unbecoming.
Necromancy
The instructor of Necromancy is the mysterious Changeling known only as Eesk the Lich. Eesk gave herself over to Lichdom in an effort to prolong her life so that she may continue her studies, experiment with creating new forms of necromancy spells, and to pass along the knowledge she has gained -- a true follower of Mystra, though some have speculated she could possibly be serving Velsharoon instead. A condition of her serving at the Lady's College is that Fay Mytersaal be the one to possess her phylactery. The student body is terrified of Eesk, save for the few that see beauty in her appearance and ability. Eesk rarely floats the halls of the Lady's College, and only does so at night. She rarely engages in conversation, and when doing so, she comes across as intimidating and cold, though there is a hint of sadness that she carries with her. She specializes, naturally, in spells which manipulate the energies of life and death. Such spells can grant an extra reserve of life force, drain the life energy from another creature, create the undead, or even bring the dead back to life.
Transmutation
The instructor of Transmutation is the Human female Mis Gradov. Mis is a graduate of the Lady's College herself and a native of Daemarrel who was asked to stay as an instructor by Fay Mytersaal. She is extremely talented in her field, and has a gift for discovering new forms of magic. She specializes in spells which change the properties of a creature, object, or environment. They might turn an enemy into a harmless creature, bolster the strength of an ally, make an object move at the caster’s command, or enhance a creature’s innate healing abilities to rapidly recover from injury. She is quite friendly and loves to engage in social gatherings, and often is responsible for being the 'face' of the Lady's College when guests visit. She enjoys giving tours, hosting dinners, and throwing celebrations for students.
