Alexandra Kollontai
Alexandra Kollontai Is a Soviet Politician, Feminist and Theorist within in The Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Alexandra is also a leader of "The Feminist Left" a faction within the party.
Early Life:
Alexandra Kollontai was born on March 19, 1872 in St. Petersburg from a privileged background. However, she joined radical movements and eventually joined the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party in 1899. Alexandra didn't join either faction at the time, either the Mensheviks and Bolsheviks remaining neutral up till the Great War.
Great War and Revolution:
As War broke in 1914, she violently opposed it and by 1915 had joined the Bolsheviks. She was primary in Norway until the February Revolution, where she swiftly returned to her homeland. During the first Soviet Government, she was briefly People's Commissar for Social Welfare before resigning in opposition to the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk.
She was an increasing critic of the Party, and joined a faction that was called the Workers' Opposition that advocated "Left Communism" a more decentralize and union foucsed version of Communism. After it was dissolved in 1921, she formed "The Feminist Left" as a successor that was more radical, including calling for gender equally.
By 1923, her faction has support across The Soviet Union from mostly women, If she takes over Union it is the first time in centuries a Woman rose to a powerful geopolitical position.
