The Runehammer Forge

In the heart of the Quarter of Sable Waters, where the ringing of steel echoes through the air, stands the Runehammer Forge—a smithy unlike any other in Dum Ramil. Here, metal is not just shaped, but etched with power, infused with runes that whisper with arcane energy and ancient craftsmanship. This is the domain of runesmiths, artisans who carve magic into the bones of the world, creating weapons, armor, and tools that are more than mere steel and stone.

The Art of Runesmithing

Unlike common blacksmiths, the masters of the Runehammer Forge do not simply forge metal; they inscribe it with meaning. Each rune they carve is an invocation, a binding of strength, resilience, or even destruction. To wield a weapon from this forge is to carry a piece of forgotten magic, a sigil of power that lingers long after its maker is gone.

The forge is run by Master Ulthar Runebinder, a weathered yet formidable figure, said to have learned his craft from texts older than Dum Ramil itself. His apprentices undergo rigorous training, for one misplaced rune can mean disaster, turning a masterpiece into a curse.

Runes of the Forge

The Runehammer specializes in a variety of inscriptions, each carrying its own unique properties:

  • The Rune of Unyielding Stone – Grants armor the endurance of the mountain, making its wearer resistant to harm.
  • The Emberbrand Sigil – Imbues weapons with searing flames, allowing them to burn through armor and flesh alike.
  • The Whispering Mark – A forbidden rune that lets weapons speak, warning their wielders of danger… or driving them to madness.

Only those who prove themselves worthy may commission a runesmithed item, and even then, the price is steep. Some pay in gold, others in promises, and a rare few in secrets lost to time.

A Place of Power and Mystery

To stand within the Runehammer Forge is to feel the hum of power woven into its very walls. It is a place where steel remembers, where fire shapes more than just metal, and where every strike of the hammer echoes through history itself.

"A rune does not give power—it reveals what was already there. Choose your inscription wisely, lest it choose you first."
