  • The refion is dotted with many castles, keeps, towers, towns and villages.
  • Vast wealth from their fields, mines, trade, taxes and other revenue streams.
  • Ther realm's largest army - 250,000 men - Mostly peasants with little training.
  • Weapons, armour and equipment of all types and quality exist in the kingdom due to the huge population.
  • 2 relatively small fleets, one at the port on the Great Lake and one at Wesport.

History

Founded Long ago by the first Amber King, The Amberlands encompasses huge swathes of fertile land in the center of the continent. The resulting crops allowed for huge population growth in the region and immediately placed the fledgling kingdom in a position of power.   The kingdom expanded quickly and raised many towns and castles around their territory. They fought in many conflicts over their history but prefer to handle political disputes with diplomacy and wealth.   As The Amber City grew, it was built upward, not outward, as they refused to encroach on their invaluable farmland. So the city built upon itself, each layer built upon the last, with constant reinforcement being added to the lower sections. Now the city touches the clouds and its great weight has caused the structure to slowly sink into the ground, smothering the lower/poorer areas in darkness.

Demography and Population

2,500,000 people, mostly peasants with a few immigrants in more populated areas.   Food is abundant in most areas but the lower classes in the capital still starve due to poor living conditions. Disease is common, especially in more densely populated areas. The current socio-economic climate has halted population growth as the rich ensure the common folk has only just enough to get by.

Territories

From Wesport in the north, all the way down to Devland, reaching the Armlands in the West and the Great Lake in the East. The area around the capital are ancestral lands claimed by the first Amber King and the rest was slowly annexed or assimilated over time.

Military

  • 175,000 Peasant soldiers
  • 60,000 Professional soldiers
  • 10,000 Light Cavalry
  • 5000 Heavy Cavalry/Mounted Knights

Foreign Relations

The Amberlands shares borders with 5 kingdoms, The Vlads, Maringrad, The Armlands, Avenholme, and Devland. The Crown endeavors to keep warm relations with all its neighbours but because of its position of power and dominance, those relationships are always fragile.

Agriculture & Industry

The Amberlands are the most prosperous kingdom in the region due to their fertile lands and central position, giving them a stranglehold on most of the realm's trade.   Huge agricultural industry with massive swathes of fertile ground. Food production makes up a huge portion of the Amberlands revenue and they have invested heavily into maximizing their output. They mostly grow grain, corn, carrots and other high-yield crops.   Their rich harvests also help support their huge quantity of livestock that they use for food and other goods.   They have a few mines in the Old Crag which stands by Amber City. The mines mostly produce iron, copper and bronze.   Industry roars in the capital and larger towns with tradesmen of all kinds producing goods for the huge population and for export.

Trade & Transport

All arterial roads on the continent eventually lead to Amber City which is used to full effect by the merchants who transport most goods via horse and cart throughout the neighbouring regions. Trade is also conducted through their ports to distant lands but mostly imports. Most food does not keep well over long sea voyages.

Education

The Nobility and rich merchant families are well educated but the lower classes have little to no schooling.

Infrastructure

The Amberlands have huge well-maintained roads leading from the capital which helps the economy run smoothly. There are many warehouses and barns around the country used to store their many goods and resources.   They also have many, castles, keeps and towers in strategic positions to help maintain their supremacy over the area.
