Norook

The Norook people originate from the Craglands. Isolated behind their mountains, they evolved into a brutish and tough people. Sometime before the Age of Claims, they crossed The Belly and founded Morris in the North. They are known for their strength, size, and sense of humour.   Norook can be distinguished by their thick, powerful physiques, blocky facial features, and hazel eyes.

The Norook of the Craglands have a very competitive culture which tends to make them very industrious people.   The Morrismen, however, are much looser and aren't as concerned with socialeconomic status.

Shared customary codes and values

  • Equal rights between men and women.
  • Men should endeavor to stay physically powerful throughout his entire life.
  • Cannot stand bureaucracy or detail-orientated tasks.
  • All Norook (especially the men) have a love for fighting.

Common Etiquette rules

  • Firm forearm clasp and embrace.
  • Always serve your best food when you have a guest.

Common Dress code

  • Simple and functional garb with little adornment.
  • The ruling class often wear exotic pelts to show their wealth.
  • The Norook love leather and wear it whenever they can.

Art & Architecture

Not much in the way of art, but once introduced to the idea of castles, they became obsessed with making theirs the most impressive in the realm. Because of this, the Craglands is home to the continent's finest masons.   The Norook in Morris were not introduced to castles until much later and try to avoid disturbing the earth when possible. They They do have art though it looks quite primative to the people of other kingdoms.

  • Drinking of ale during all social occasions.
  • Wrestling matches during celebrations.
  • They regularly take iowaska and perform rituals to their strange gods.

  • Physically large and strong.
  • Rare eye colour.

Men do the soldiering and more physically challenging tasks while the women run the household, forage and farm.

Courtship Ideals

  • Couples often wrestle together to strengthen their bond.
  • No taboo around women overtly pursuing men.
