Wei Lian
Wife of General Wei Ang Jian, mother of four, and a cultivator formerly of the Cold Wolf Sect. Lian has a pragmatic, at times sharp personality that complements her husband's sweet nature. She and Ang Jian are close friends to the Zhang Family, Ruya Ilkin, and Gao Zhong Hu (though Lian did not meet him until after the War of Eternal Day).
Lian's mother and her family are Garalese, but Lian's father, a Zhenic and prestigious cultivator in the Cold Wolf Sect, wanted her to have a Zhenic cultivator's education there - despite never openly claiming her as his daughter. Lian left the sect after her training and traveled for many years as a wandering cultivator before the Uprising. She was not associated with the Cold Wolf Sect or its downfall.
Wei Ang Jian noticed Lian at the sect while visiting his friends and heard a little of her later travels. Shortly after the Uprising, Zhang Xiong and Zhang Yin Da asked him for help with housing and training a young and rebellious Zhang Huai Shi. Ang Jian ran into difficulties doing so, and in desperation reached out to Lian asking for help. She agreed; this partnership led to her eventual marriage to Ang Jian. The two were also instrumental in helping Ruya Ilkin settle in Zhenhai after the Ascension.
Lian supported her husband's role as General in the War of Eternal Day. She and her children stayed with her mother, Samga Gegeen, and her uncle Jeder in Garal. Her mother and uncle also agreed to shelter Du Rui Sheng at Du Qian Men's request. Lian was pregnant with her youngest daughter Wei Yaling at the time; the pregnancy became difficult and life-threatening, but Lian did not mention as much to Ang Jian until he hinted again that in Garalese military tradition the family stayed with the army.Relationships
