WorldEmber 2021 Pledge

WorldEmber round 2 - this time, it's personal

For those of you that followed my Summer Camp progress, you've probably already read about how disappointed I was with my WorldEmber last year. So this time, I'm downscaling it, making it manageable so that I can do some awesome worldbuilding whilst working around other things, like continuing to write out the first book for The Wayfarer, or doing my 9-5 job (luckily I've got some time booked off in December, so I'll dedicate some of those days to worldbuilding).

The Goal

10k words. That's 300 words a day, which I already know I can do from Summer Camp, but I'll probably try and write more than that, then have a few break days in between. No point in burning myself out again!

If I can end up writing more than that, then that would be amazing, but I don't think I'll reach the next badge for 25k. I think this year that's probably a bit too much (but who knows, maybe I'll surprise myself!)

If I can write at least 10k, then I'll have beaten my past self. And that would really be a moment to be proud of.

The Focus

Anything story related. That goes for both Osiron and Ma'rune. The thinking behind this is that it will a) help me build up both worlds a bit more whilst b) keeping the worldbuilding relevant to what will be happening within the story. (Besides Valissa, you had your turn at being the kingdom of focus during Summer Camp)

I'm also hoping that staying focused on more of the story related elements will help create some more ideas. Whether or not that works out, well, we'll see I guess, but considering the ideas that I've already written down on a notepad? I think the focus might just be working.

The Preparation

I've also started taking down some notes in a notebook - I know, the good old pen and paper method! - whenever I think of something related to the stories I've got planned for Osiron and Ma'rune. I'll take another look at those ideas towards the end of November and decide on some semblance of an order (maybe), and then I'll be ready to create the new articles for WorldEmber.

One final note for preparation - I've tidied up the world homepages for both Ma'rune and Osiron. This is actually something I've wanted to do for a while, so what better time to do it than as preparation for WorldEmber?
