A well known gutterborn thief who helped solve the case of the Capstone Kidnapper in the capital city of Melesh.

Russell Bourke (a.k.a. Rusty)

Rusty is an old gutterborn fellow from Capstone, the capital city of Melesh in Anvil. He looks after the streets, and the streets provide for him in return. He isn't exactly welcome anywhere else thanks to his face being on wanted posters adorning every street corner, but he's lived long enough to know how to stay out of sight.   Despite his name, Rusty is still swifter than steel and has sharper wits than anyone in town. Many people speculate why he is called Rusty, perhaps it's his brown, textured clothes or maybe his habit of picking flakes off of rusting metal when bored. Every person has a different theory, and nobody knows the real answer (if there even is one).  

Unwanted Fame

Rusty was one of the few unfortunate folk who witnessed The Capstone Kidnapper at work and became heavily involved in trying to aid the guards with the high profile case. Due to his background and poor upbringing he quickly became the perfect scapegoat for heinous crimes that he didn't commit. He was only 13 at the time.   The whispers still echo through the streets even 46 years on since the height of the investigation in 518 2A. Mothers use tales of the Capstone Kidnapper to scare their children into good behaviour, and many folk still keep to the original curfew that was enforced upon the city for six years.   Now in his elder years, Rusty lives a very quiet life after all he has seen. Those he speaks to thinks he's either completely mad, lost his mind or is hitting the drugs hard.  

Skills & Achievements

Rusty has a unique set of skills that make him the ideal candidate for quiet jobs that no one needs to know about. He is often employed for burglary, lockpicking, making things disappear, and smuggling. He is not an assassin and will refuse any job involving poisoning, execution or even the slaughter of animals.   He's been a member of The Locks and Quays guild for as long as he can remember, and has fond memories of creating a fun distraction for his guild mates where he set about the hilarious chase of an angry guard, his excitable hound and a very frightened cat through the bustling streets.

Possessions

He has earned many prizes and trinkets during his time with the guild - his favourite is a large dagger made of fine mackerel steel that he got as a reward from one of his first burglary jobs. It has saved him from many fights - not in combat but from intimidating others. He mostly uses it as a utility knife.   At night he dreams of retiring as a rich nobleman, tucked away in a mansion of his own on a hill overlooking the black streets he was raised in. He's got ideas all laid out for the floor plan and knows from first hand experience how to make the place entirely thief-proof.
