The Astronomer

If my parents could see what their humble astronomy station had turned into today, I'm sure they wouldn't be able to believe their own eyes. But more than that, I truly believe they would be proud of what we have achieved here. They both avidly believed that the pursuit of understanding the world in which we lived was essential to our future

Duties

The Astronomer guides the motivations of The Astronomers and oversees its activities in regard to those motivations. He ensures that everyone understands the importance of what they are doing, and tries to make sure the organization is united in its goals. He listens to the advice of his department heads, and makes sure that they have all the information and resources they need to lead their teams successfully. While the Astronomer sets the goals and expectations for each department, he allows the heads to manage for themselves how their teams go about achieving those goals.

History

The current Astronomer, Delhat Jamiss, is the first person to officially hold this title. His mother, who ran the original observatory, had been called it as fond nickname by those who were stationed at the small research base with her. Delhat adopted it as an official title not long after the Astronomers came out in open opposition to the GBC, and it has come to be almost synonymous with the resistance now. Outside of the Astronomers, most people don't even know his real name.

Personal responsibilities

Not only does the Astronomer oversee the organisation, he also heads his own department, which is concerned with collating all the data of the other departments and looking for connections. He keeps an accurate, up-to-date chart of all the Constellations they have discovered so far, and tracks their movements across the sky.

Ahoy Laura! I hope you're having a great Summercamp, its wonderful to see you stream your progress on Twitch :) I like the quote that introduces your article with a positive, optimistic outlook. The article certainly does make it compelling to look up more about the organisation. Maybe in the future we could find more about the departments, and the folks that need to report to the Astronomer. Cool stuff!
