Also called 'Wrey tree'.
Also called 'Wrey tree'.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Pileus (cap): Measures 3 - 5 metres tall (including veil remnants) and 21 - 25 metres across. Depressed, with a pulverulent texture. The cap margin is appendiculate. Silver in colour, ranging from chalk white to platinum, with some storm grey warts.
Lamellae (gills): Free, close, serrated gills. Crystal blue with a bioluminescent glow. Produces a frost white spore print.
Stipe (stem): Hard, rough texture. Measures 10 - 15 metres tall, 10 - 12 metres across at the bulbous base, and 5 - 6 metres across where it connects to the cap. Bone white in colour, with powder white patches.
Veil and Annulus: The universal veil breaks after the first 75 years of the mushtree's life and continues to disintegrate from then on, leaving warts on the cap and fragments hanging from the margin. It also leaves a delicate and fraying median pendant annulus.
Hyphae and mycelia: In the immediate vicinity of the mushtree, the hyphae are rhizoidal and range in colour from cloud grey flint grey to a warm grey. Further away from the mushtree, these colours fade. The mycelia form 'paths' between other Wrey trees, which can only be travelled along when in Wrey.

Growth Rate & Stages
Ofēlūsle grow at a rate of about 20cm a year, taking 125 years to reach their full height. They can live for up to 2000 years, after which they begin to rot and become unstable, and typically fall down. However, their mycelial networks can survive indefinitely, as long as there are sufficient nutrients available.

Uses, Products & Exploitation
Wrey trees were used by the Arineans to travel quickly between districts of Arine, as well as the other settlements of The Arinean Kingdom (Lakt Eglens, Rūz Arbekslople, Zēbornar, and Vālēar). They did so through Wrey Points, the first of which was constructed in 42110 UTD.
