Wrey (/ɹæɪ/ [ray])

In order to enter Wrey through a Wrey Point, one must stand in the alcove and gently pull on some of hanging fibres as if closing a curtain. This changes the environment one is in, from the outside world to Wrey. It is the same to leave Wrey and return to the outside world.

Geography

Wrey is a sub-dimension formed by the wide-ranging mycelium networks of the Ofēlūs mushtrees. From without, the hyphae are indistinguishable from those of other Arboreomorph species and do not appear to be out of the ordinary in any way. However, once entered into through The Wrey Points, Wrey is a vast and mostly flat environment of varying shades and temperatures of greys and off-whites, and is both enthralling and unsettlingly desolate. It is firm and of a fibrous texture, becoming more porous at The Wrey Points. There is no true sense of sky, which appears eternally overcast and foggy. The air is still and cool, although sound does not travel far.

Localized Phenomena

There is no weather except for a slightly periwinkle-tinged elusive fog, and neither day nor night but rather a continual early dawn-like twilight.
Travelling through Wrey between The Wrey Points takes less time than otherwise (the exact difference is unknown, and claims range from two thirds to one quarter).
Any individual who has been in Wrey for over twelve hours at a time will develop Orlefirs (a condition similar to radiation sickness).

Fauna & Flora

No organism grows or lives here naturally, except for young Ofēlūs mushtrees.

Natural Resources

Ofēlūs hyphae fibres can be gathered here. However, they are much stiffer and more wiry than the stipe fibres (which are used in the making of a Wrey cloak), and are therefore used very little.

History

On the 8th of Adenor 42707 UTD, Wrey was discovered and first entered into, through a crevice in the base of an Ofēlūs mushtree. Eight months later, on the 16th of Froskle, the first case of Orlefirs was documented. In the same year, construction of The Wrey Points was commissioned and the project was completed in 42716 UTD.
