The Future of 13

Backstory

I have been in World Anvil for over 3 years, building this world. I started a bit before SC 2019. Summer Camp was my first introduction to the World Anvil community. 13 was a private world, which had open articles . When open articles were removed, I created a new world called "13 (private)". I was not keen on accidentally publishing things meant to be private. Now, I want to merge both worlds, thanks to the feature which allows me to set all new articles private.
That's where you come in! For 3 years, I have kept most of my stuff private. Only the things I make for challenges are public, and even then, most are made private after the challenge. But throughout these years, I have amassed more than 90 followers that seem to have an interest in this world.

I would like to change things somewhat so that people who engage and are interested in the world can get more of it, and not just during challenges.

I am very humbled every time I stop to think that 90 people are interested in my world. I'd like to make my world more accessible to them (to you!), but to do so, I'd like to know what people who follow the world are interested in.
I have several ideas of how this could work, but I'd like to know what you would be interested in:
  • Active followers of the world get similar access as my players, revealing the backbone (but not the secrets) of my world
  • Make "the basics" public; that way, everyone can get a better understanding of the world
  • Active followers get access to secrets (the stuff my players cannot see)
  • Categories or articles can be accessed based on a follower poll of the content they find most interesting
Not a follower of my world?
I limit the number of worlds I follow to those I can keep on top of. But if you have read some of my articles, you may have a vague idea of what my world is about. If that's the case, I am also very interested in your opinion. Are any of the above suggestions likely to make you more interested in becoming a follower?

I am keen to hear your comments or suggestions about how can I make this world a more user-friendly world (and hopefully interesting too).

I think a good idea would be that active followers would have a similar access to your players, but perhaps there could be an option to 'opt in' to secrets?

Mmmm, interesting. Two groups, one of them is an opt-in for people who don't mind spoilers. Thanks for your contribution!

I would honestly love to read more about the basics of the world, from one DM to another. I think these types of things are very interesting, but I also understand how not everyone would be interested by that type of content. Maybe subscriber groups could be an option?

Thanks for letting me know! Most solutions will indeed involve subscriber groups. Someone also mentioned the basics in discord, so I do think I need to make some sort of mostly-spoiler-free primer.   Though I am curious, you mention the DM aspect, what are the basics in a "DM-sense" for you?

Well when worldbuilding from a DM point of view, one has to think a lot about mechanics and how the worldbuilding relates to the players (at least in my case everything i build will relate to the players), so I find it interesting to know what the motivations of creating x or y things are. I know you do already include some mechanics, but I’m thinking more about intent? Idk if I’m making a lot of sense :’)

I do think it makes sense. A "behind the curtains" view of why I'm adding something. Thanks for the insight!

I think the idea of making the basics public is a great idea. This way, anyone can get a feel for your setting and decide if they want to become a follower. For me, basics would be anything that gives me a better understanding of the setting as a whole. Like places, species, nations, etc. I also like the suggestion Serukis made about the opt-in. Giving followers a choice seems like a great idea, if you yourself don't mind sharing those secrets of course.

"Basics" does seem popular indeed! I'm thinking I may work on this during World Ember maybe... Thanks for the insight, Wendy!
