Curse Sentinels Organization in 13 | World Anvil

Curse Sentinels

Shackled to the Blood Glade and powerless to the creatures patrolling the outskirts, these people have one of the most powerful relics of the world. They won't stop until they destroy it.

Most relics are created thanks to the powerful bond between individuals (their ancestors) and an object of special significance to them. A few relics, however, are created when a creature of immense power is slain. In the case of the creature killed by a group of adventurers, the soul was split amongst their four weapons, waiting to corrupt them from within.   Keeping the four weapons close to each other presented a very real danger that all four friends could see. So they took the heartbreaking measure of splitting, each seeking a different method to destroy their relic, or at the very least, keeping it from reuniting with the other weapons, to prevent the soul from staying strong and seeking to gain a new body.   Markun The Simple was the only one of the four companions that had found a way to neutralize the weapon "for good". He had found an area of antimagic known as the Blood Glade which inhibited the soul in the weapon from whispering its malicious ideas into his brain. As time went on, all his companions came back to him, some alive, others dead (their remains carried on by their new companions): none had found the means to contain the evil hosted within the weapons, and at last, when they noticed their will weakening to the constant whispers of the weapon, they had resorted to seeking Markun.   They renamed themselves as the "Curse Sentinels", guardians of four weapons which could destroy the world. Their mission? find a way to destroy the weapons once and forever.   Markun The Simple is the only remnant of the original adventuring group. Although he is the eldest (both in time spent in the glade and in total age), he is not by far the only person in the glade. During the plague years, plague-stricken or plague-fearing people began seeking the legends of the Blood glade. Little by little, Markun provided comfort to those who died and recruited those who survived into the quest he had inflicted himself: to make sure the weapons that bore one-fourth of the consciousness of the evil aboleth who was involved in enacting the plague were destroyed.
