The lovers Orion, Hierophant of Annen, and Slem of Port Hren.   Orion, like most of his minotaur kind, is from the island kingdom of Jèrynn, who came to Port Hren on a divine mission inspired by his goddess, Annen. In the midst of an armistice between the belligerents Ptarshakk and the Qh'énns which resulted into an influx of refugees overwhelming the port city of Hren, Hœm. Slem, a former pirate, was initially an adversary, but quickly converted to Orion's cause, at first pretending that he had confused Orion for the minotaur revolutionary, Moloch.
