A Secret Society

The Crooked Mile Chapter House was founded by Jason Garamund in 1892, six years before the six years war. Because Crooked Mile was a rural area barely known by Otherwhere, the few farmers and explorers who lived there suffered less than its neighbor west of the Bridleborne Mountains. In part due to the fact the steam train shipped only coal through the tunnel (no people).   The shipyard did not yet exist. Smugglers did use the small port and Jason ran a small bootlegging business with his brother Lenny. Jason's rationalized his venture. It was a family emergency when their family Seasway Hotel lost decades old tourist and vacation to the ravages of war. By the end of the war, it fell to ruins. The Scarlet proceeds kept his family from starving to death.   The downside is that friends of criminals are not trustworthy, honest or moral. Amorality, along with the thinning in the flare resulted in more reason to start a Candela Obscura Circle with neighbors he could trust. Trusting him was an entirely other matter he needed to compartmentalize.

The Circle does not advertise its location. Most residents of Crooked Mile believe the secret society is a charity organization, Many of the Circle's members are civic minded and well known leaders in the community.   Crooked Mile being built on the eastern slope of the Bridleborne Mountains (What goes up must come down on our side) is in a similar situation. Mystery, strange phenomena, secret societies that originated in Newfaire and expanded after it's Six Year War. While Newfaire thought it could escape Oldfaire's "powerful magick," Crooked Mile. Black Ichor Scenarios are derivatives based on the horror tabletop roleplaying game (TTRPG) Candela Obscura.The game and the mechanics, Illumination Worlds, is narrative TTRPG about paranormal secret societies, an ancient and fallen city, a turn-of-the-century city that is trying to escape from the corruption and greed of the past, and mysterious phenomena.
