Captain's Log – SS Good Times II
Caspia System – En Route to Genesis
Date: Early February 4502 CE
The intel came at a cost—one drugged dealer, one stolen data wafer, and a lingering ethical headache. Lucid's honeypot operation paid off: we now have a list of Space Kings facilities, complete with coordinates, defence estimates, and supply routes.
One name stood out:
Genesis. A secret location. No public records. Just a string of numbers and a note:
"Primary logistics node."
That's where we're headed.
The Long Road
It's a two-week transit from Caspia to Genesis. We stopped briefly at Prelazack to gas up—kept our heads down, avoided the paramilitary patrols, and didn't make eye contact with anyone wearing a badge. Prelazack has a way of making outsiders disappear.
The downtime gave us time to argue about ship names. Again. The fleet is growing, and the
Good Times II can't be the only vessel with personality. Candidates so far:

Kitsuragi? (Lucid's pick. "Classy. Mysterious.")

Columbo? (Beñat's. "Looks messy. Wins anyway.")

Straight Edge? (Castor's. He wouldn't explain.)

Hakimi Lebovic? (No one remembers who suggested this.)

Bassarion? (Mine. Old Earth historian. Fought for the common people.)
No consensus. The debate continues.
Genesis – Asteroid TK45Bn-76-12
We dropped out of jump into silence. Genesis isn't a planet or a station—it's an asteroid field, dense and ancient. Lucid cross-referenced the coordinates and pinpointed our target:
TK45Bn-76-12, a lump of rock the size of a small moon.
Her scanners lit up.
"It's made of iridium," she said.
"Almost pure. This isn't a base—it's a vault."
We needed to know if anyone was home. Lucid composed a phishing message—innocuous, generic, the kind of ping a lost freighter might send.
The reply came three seconds later.
A laser beam. Lazily aimed, but deliberate. A warning shot across our bow.
Someone's home. And they don't like guests.
— Captain Peter Avignon
SS Good Times II
"We come in peace. They shoot first."
Addendum: Note to self—next time Lucid suggests a "friendly ping," remind her that pirates don't have a friendly setting.
