Captain's Log - SS Good Times II
14 May 4501 - Jump Space
Status:
Holed up on the bridge
Three crew functional (barely)
One eldritch granny in a low berth
Watched the whole shitshow unfold via internal sensors. Aidan, our resident psionic, pulled a heroic idiot move by confronting the woman near engineering. Using his own psionic abilities, he shields himself from her maelstrom. Somehow he held long enough to yell:
Aidan: "Let me help you!"
Eldritch Passenger: [Unearthly screeching translated loosely as "Fuck off"]
Lucid’s "Danger Bot" (a Roomba with a taser duct-taped to it) delivered the suppressant cocktail. Bought us two hours of peace. Thirty-four to go.
Beñat wanted to space her. Lucid suggested "accidental airlock malfunction." I vetoed both. Murder’s bad for business, even when your target’s rearranging bulkheads like origami.
Current Measures:
Psionic stasis induced (Grandma’s now comatose in medbay)
Passenger secured in low berth (set to "meat locker" mode)
Cover story if anyone askes: "Terminally ill aunt en route to specialist care, will die if we unthaw."
The Aseni’ll execute her on sight if they find out she's a latent psionic, then Aidan too – Psionic abilities are not welcome in Aseni Republic space. Heck, they might execute us just for proximity.
16 May 4501 - Pandya Orbital
Aseni security gave our manifest the same attention they give expired parking permits. Collected our 200k hazard bonus from the shellshocked "grandson" seconds before Aseni authorities dragged him off. Guild mail payout: 25k. Barely covers the therapy bills.
New Crew Rules:
Beñat: No passengers. Ever.
Lucid: Unless cryo-frozen, pre-paid, and pre-sedated.
Lessons Learned:
Install psionic detectors
Grandmothers can indeed violate physics
Guild insurance doesn't cover "acts of malevolent transcendence"
Refueled at Pandya’s orbital siphon—hydrogen priced like vintage champagne. Next stop: Jred frontier mail run. Quiet. Boring. Blissfully normal.
Until then,
Captain Peter Avignon
