Journey to the Devil's Stone

by Lady Emmeline d'Garin

We took Ginette "home"... she'd been missing 40 years.

We journeyed to a small village near where the map led, joined forces with the local wizard who had passwall that could let us throw an old avalanche and into a cave that yet housed, perhaps, a warlock's demon. We did spend a night there and Wren and I had a bit of a shock when we spent the night in privacy. It did draw Typhon's attention.

We encountered that demon. I banished a bull-headed demon and found a pouch with 17 gold, a magical blade of short sword length (shortsword of undead slaying, 1d6 or 2d6 vs undead and does not require attunement but if you do, it prevents being turned into undead), and two magical rings. One ring is one with some kind of transmutation stone embedded in it (ring of fortification that helps one resist transmutation, does not require attuning and gives proficiency with CON save). The other ring seemed simple and golden with a stylized wolf eating its tail (requires attuning, allows someone with lycanthropy complete control over the curse). There is also a magic bag of holding with a hole in the bottom. It had been gnawed upon by the demon. Typhon got the bag (it would only cost about 200 gold to fix it). Emmeline got the Ring of Non-Transmutation, Wren got the Ring of Lycanthropic Control, and the wizard got the Shortsword of Undead Detection and Slaying.

I was able to retain the ring! Wren got the other. We found Ginette had family and Astra got her well situated there with Ginette's nephew.

We swung back around to Derrien to drop off Wren for her lessons and visited with Duchess Rivanon. Rivanon made note that Typhon was an idol and role model to girls everywhere in the region and cautioned her to think about that while she continues her quest to become a man again.

I spoke with Rivanon about the future of the Twilight Vale, as well. Em is concerned about its future. Rivanon gave her a Traskine book about female love to read and to share with Wren. I told Rivanon about Wren and I and shared enough to make both of us blush. I think Rivanon is happy for me but cautioned me about how and when this might come up with her father.
