The Necromancer

by Oliver Grey

We have successfully returned to from Ora after bringing down the source of the undead nightmare in Zwei.
It was a more daunting task that I had initially anticipated. As we nearly lost not just one but two members of our party.
The town of Zwei was completely condemned upon our arrival with no townsfolk in sight. We were welcomed only by a small mass of undead shambling towards us from all sides.
The kenku is good with his fists, what he lacks in flying ability he makes up with impeccable speed and tenacity.
After clearing the streets we made our way to a not so abandoned mine shaft where a horde of husks were surging through. Luckily we managed to enter without drawing too much attention to ourselves and alerting the dead of our presence.
Some members of the party had knowledge of some parts of the mine, which made it easier for us to navigate further towards the source of the walking dead. A hooded figure surrounded by floating specters guarding him as he was working on some arcane disk.
Lucky for us we were able to get the jump on him before he could complete what he was doing.
Thanks to Shantu and his bag of tricks.
The man, his eyes and mouth were sewn shut, a very strange sight to see. I wonder what his reason for that was.
The battle itself for some of us was focused on crowd control. There were too many ghosts for our liking and they had to be exterminated. Persephone, an elven Druid, was able to bend two of the to her will and kept them in stasis while we took care of the rest.
Zik and myself tried to bring down the necromancer by force but that seemed only to humor him. He suddenly disappeared and then reappeared but something was different.
He was physically there with us, yet his mind was somewhere else. And Garak, the soft spoken warlock went with him. Whatever damage we were doing to the necromancer seemed to also damage Garak as well. I think Tiberious realized this and somehow managed to go in where Garak’s mind was taken. Never seen an actual battle of the minds before, and it was quite unnerving. All I could do was help heal Garak from his wounds and keep him in the fight.
Don’t what happened between those three, but Tiberious and Garak were able to defeat the sewn man.
As he crumbled to ash, so did the undead with the ghosts who faded away. Hopefully they will now be able to rest in eternal peace.
