The Glowing Specters

by Oliver Grey

Finally made it back to Rosey’s shop. The kid says she’s gonna have to take charge of the store and is already coming up with ideas to improve both the store and the crew as a whole.
I worry about her though to be honest. The day the old woman died, so did the kid’s innocence. The bright colors of her attire has dulled to black and grey. I just hope she doesn’t become consumed by anger and hate. Don’t want her to go down the same path that I once did.
On the bright side, we got a new ship. A maroon Cutter formerly know as the Tasman. After some discussion with the others we decided to change the name from Tasman to Orrian’s Revenge. A fine vessel that should show off our growing strength as a unit.
We also decided to keep the Tentacle Terror with Gob taking on the role as captain of the Terror while I captain Orrian’s Revenge.
Shantu is a weird little creature, need to keep a close eye on him for he can be spontaneous at times.
After collecting our bounties, we earned 8000 gold. 1500 went to Dmitri for ship repairs, 100 gold to each of the party members, and some went to restocking the ship and paying for more crew members.
The remaining 5,315 gold went straight to the bank.
We got a new case from the sheriffs office about an undead disturbance over in the island of Ora. Something about ghosts and walking skeletons, with a 9000 gold reward plus whatever valuables we obtain from there.
After hearing about this we packed up and set sail for Ora.
The journey took longer than we anticipated with a few days of us stranded in the middle of the water with no wind to blow our sails.
Got into a skirmish with some rabid merfolk which resulted in 5 dead sailors. The next day we almost lost one of our kobald deck hands but Shantu managed to save him from drowning.
We made it to Ora and docked at the small town of Zwei where the undead disturbance was happening.
Fuckers didn’t give us much input as to what was going on, the sheriff there just told us to follow the screams and wished us the best of luck.
Sadly luck wasn’t on our side as we had extreme difficulty dealing with two glowing blue specters that seemed to be resistant to most of our non magical weapons. It took a lot from us to bring down the first one and the second knocked me unconscious but Zik was able to bring it down. Not to mention the mass skeleton horde we had to keep our distance from.
Shantu pulled a rat out of bag (don’t ask me how) and sent it into mine shaft that seemed to be where the undead were coming from.
What he saw through the rat was more than we can handle with there being more skeletons and more glowing spirits with a hooded figure deep inside controlling them.
We snuck back into town and boarded the ship.
Upon our return to Rosey’s I told the kid what happened and that we need more back up and weapons that can deal serious damage to those fucking ghosts. Seriously fuck those fucking fuckers
