I'm not one to show weaknesses but I swear to the gods, I do not belong on the seas. A fresh set of eyes gazed upon me. The female Nusaru Prince Liuni brought on board. Froblina, I believe her name was. She's a water monk, and a follower of Cisero.
I'm surprised she decided to stick around, during her introduction Gurval picked her up by her head, and I let my intrusive thoughts win, I stroked her arm. Slimey and sticky, to be expected.
A random gray elf slunk down from the rigging, sipping seawater like it was fine, I stared in horror, but said nothing.
Lucid handed a very seasick looking Arthom a bottle of rum. Arthom didn’t seem to want it so I took it upon myself to not let it go to waste, I snatched it the moment Lucid turned away. Only Syrus caught me, we met eyes, and exchanged a nod of acceptance.
As the ship gained speed, Lucid took the helm. He was clearly a bit rusty since he was ROCKING THE DAMMED SHIP. I braced myself to whatever I could find, I had to chuckle, he looked like he was having fun.
The monks, Froblina and Yi Feng, focused their energy and channeled their chi to manipulate the elements. It is highly common in Leishu villages to become monks, or at least learn to channel chi, a skill I failed to accomplish.
Water surged, pushing the boat forward a terrifying speed while the air currents forced the ship to stay on route after projecting a large wind burst which sent the ship air born.
Talu landed mid-air onto Gallant, while I grappled onto Gurval, landing squarely on his head. Syrus managed to fly up to avoid the chaos.
The Golden cow suddenly appeared through a portal behind Gurval, much to my surprise.
I looked up at Lucid laughing hysterically until he smacked his face into the wheel. Karma
After we had settled, Gurval had asked me if I could write, and proceeded to ask if I could etch everyones names onto his wooden arm with my dagger, it touched my heart, just a little.
"I can teach you to read and write," I offered. Whether he accepted or not, it was his choice, though he seems pretty content.
The enemy ship grew closer and the monks slowed their pace, Syrus flew ahead to scout. "Nusaru," he reported, "I don't know if they're cultists, but they seem like it"
My fingers tightened around my weapon. I didn’t need to hear more.
Lucid called for attention. "Misfits. Crew. The enemy is within reach. Gameplan."
We formed a plan quickly, Zy and I would shroud the ship in illusion, keeping us hidden. Zeno would stay with us as backup. Gurval, Arthom, Froblina, Yi Feng, and Lucid would board and handle the cultists. Yi Feng would locate any hostages and get them to safety. Syrus would remain in the sky, watching from above giving assisstance if needed. Then when the time came, they would all teleport back, leaving me to burn the ship down.
Simple. Effective. Deadly. I like it.
The battle unfolded in controlled chaos. Cultists conjured a massive stone slide in our path, but I was faster. I sprinted to the ship’s edge, with my katana drawn, I carveda bright pink rune into the air. The magic pulsed, forcing their ship to shift just enough to evade.
Zyanya, dropped to one knee, straining to maintain the illusion. I spared her a glance but I knew she could handle it. Meanwhile, the two monks slowed our ship until we were side by side with the enemies. Gurval, teleported the boarding party through a misty cloud, placing them onboard the other ship.
The Nusaru raised their crossbows.
Lucid met eyes with the elf who had killed his father, Moadhóg. Lucid leapt to attack.
The battle commenced.
Yi Feng vanished below deck in search of hostages. Syrus, Talu, and Zyanya unleashed their ranged attacks at Moadhóg, arrows and magic missiles flying.
I didn't know what was going on below deck, but all I saw were Nusaru one by one, dropping their crossbows and leapt into the water. Nicely going for a diplomatic solution, Yi Feng got her wish.
My attention was drawn back to Lucid and Moadhóg, watching from a distance, I saw an opening. With my sword I summoned a lightning bolt and aimed it straight at Moadhóg. Target hit, Fuck yeah.
Zyanya, shouted at Lucid, "Don’t be a pussy!"
I smirked. Not bad advice, it seemed to work however, Lucid threw attacks at him like I had never seen before, his speed and precision were astounding. Until he ripped the enemies head clean off.
Sweet holy Eion. Seemed a tad aggressive with that one.
We decided that with the Nusaru off the ship, we'd bring it back to Zynii as payment for a deal everyone made with a pirate crew. I dunno, something like that.
With this finished, it was finally time to deal with the Triad, and it'll be a lot more difficult than this was.
