The Seer of Tikalona

by Avgift Kopparvingar Dharok

So, as of the first day. Pretty normal. Writing from a place called Hadwin's temple. We headed to the human nation of Tolteca to see the Great Seer who needed some help in weathering a storm. It's quite strange seeing a nation without proper procedures for such things. Well, I guess human nations do things much more differently then the Dwarves. The Seerer, our contractor, met us and informed us of our mission here. Her name started with an "S" I think? Don't really remember. I was really distracted. Mostly by the weather. Anyway, there was an incoming storm that would destroy the city. Our job is to evacuate the population to the temples which are specifically designed to weather the storm. A storm may come near the half moon. Between two days to a week. Seeing into the future and all that isn't accurate it seems. Warnings unknown, danger unknown. The only thing that is known is that her powers are pretty hit or miss and that there may be a storm is the possibly near or distant future.

As usual I'll start off with the team. First up, William, a normal human wearing normal clothes and a dragonbone prosthetic. It seems that Talys' information is not exaggerated at all. He grappled an elemental. It was an earth one mind you, not a fire like in Talys' story, but still impressive. Oh right back on track. Liberty, a rough looking human woman with a cat familiar called little boy. Why is it called little boy? No clue. I don't want to find out either. There was the usual, White Sun, the shiny gold armored jackal and Mushroom, a small human wand wielding magic caster wearing purple. I... don't know what else to say about her. Not sure if she's even an adult honestly but the Luminaries are strange.

Back to the mission, we arrived at Tikalona, a walled city near the river. Well, wall is putting it lightly. It is more of a fence at a measly 6-7 feet tall. It is made out of stone and it is walkable but I have a hard time seeing this being a real obstacle. Aside from the walls the weather is also terrible. A whiplash of sunny and rainy every other hour. It's not natural. Everyone here says it is but this just doesn't make sense to me.

Day Two

So the weather still sucks. Aside from that this city is pretty nice. Its comfortably warm although deathly humid. I saw it rain and then evaporate as steam as the sun came back out.

The people are friendly and pretty smart. It's colorful here. Blues, greens, yellows, and reds on every building. My exploration of the city was fruitful. The sun seems to be particularly prized as an object of worship and the capital is a place called Tula. That being said it seems like everyone else, minus Mushroom, is not as liked.

Day Four

So, it hit today. The storm suddenly approached, quickly turning the sky black. The evacuation went well. No one lost or injured. For some reason William had a portable boat but that most certainly helped us. The temples held up as the Seer said. The village less so. Some buildings in the lower village were destroyed by the lightning and the winds. The main issue about the whole thing is the large creature that started coming out of the river. Came out while I was keeping watch over the storm. It started destroying the area so naturally, following William's lead, we went ahead and killed it. Overall that went pretty well. Mushroom got hammered pretty badly but she'll recover. I think? Oh she's a Luminary. She'll probably be fine.

Aside from that I gained a scrying mirror. Its pretty cracked but its apparently a magical item. Not that I really know what to do with this. I'm not even really sure how to turn it on. I'm going to put it on the souvenir shelf with the glass when I return to Agarthi.
